Both. Never doubt anything. (Yes, I know that sentence is full of irony...)

Thank you for the post! (You too Samael, if you are reading this. I'm usually unorganized when it comes to small things like thanking people, so I apologize for not putting the "thank you" up there, where it belongs. And yes, I really did type all that out instead of just going back and add in "Thank's Samael!" up there.) Wow that was a long message for being between parenthesis.

Anyway, I'll keep trying to stay motivated. Which, honest to heck, is easy. It's not some goal I'm going to feel good about simply because I reached success---lucid dreaming is something that really does interest me (I have always loved analyzing my dreams and actually enjoy the more complicated ones because of this).

Honestly, guys, I'm already double-agenting as another overlord's minion. I don't know if I can make the commitment.
Smunions. It sounds like Smushy combined with minions, and I think you should make this as your User-Title (or whatever that thing is called below your User-name).

I do like the color orange.

I like the food-talk, though. I get annoyed by those hard "stay on-topic" folk. Besides, all this food-talk is technically on topic if you base the discussions off the title.

I'll consider the ironic echo thanks enough.

I'm guessing all the talk of veggies is was what did us in. Plus Loaf has a green name. Ours aren't even orange. . . yet.
Now I just need to decide if our constant hijacking of the thread was a point for or against us.

Meh. World domination is okay, but it's too much upkeep for me. I'd probably end up wiping out the human race, which would be less than productive.

I think I'm going to make it my personal goal in life to disrupt your efforts as subtly and discreetly as possible. For your own good, obviously.
You mean that actually ruling them is a requirement for world domination?

I get distracted thwarting the plots of other evil overlords in the making. I generally don't tell them when I'm doing so.

I was referring to you. Which is what made my use of that phrase slightly amusing.
Really? Hazel's been telling me that the dragon is the guy sleeping with my wife.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Ah, but "Adversary" means that I'm secretly plotting against you, which is a requirement for all DreamViews-based mionions. Especially the dark-aligned ones.

We're all friends here, but we're also trying to kill each other.

      What are funions, anyway?

      1. Waking up quickly from a dream to record it in more detail.
      2. Have that alarm signal me in my dream that I am, in fact, dreaming.

My dream journal is currently my IPhone. Despite loving short and simple messages, I fail at expressing my thoughts into that style, so my documents on the phone are massive.

The thing with my dreams is that, it seems as if it is in third person perspective. I am not sure if I can grasp lucidity when I feel detached from the dream.

I like you, Smushy, I really do.

However, I am no minion. Devoted worshiper sure, but if I were to become your minion it would just end badly for you, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

On a side-note, the bag looks photo-shopped into his hands. Or maybe I'm just used to seeing a bong there, instead.

I read "reverse bikini method", so I should probably go to sleep soon.

Have you tried writing on paper? I know it sounds silly, but for some people it really does help. I'm better at making a few notes in a paper journal before I try typing it up in my computer.

I usually dream that I'm some bizarre character entirely separated from my waking life. There's no reason to reality check if reality's supposed to be like that, is there?

I can be a minion, but I draw the line at "devoted." And I could live with myself. Bad things usually happen to my megalomaniacal employers. I plan for it. I'm like the Evil Grand Vizier of Minionhood.

And, really. Anyone who signs an employment contract with someone calling themselves Louis Cypher, Nick, Mr. Scratch, or Samael pretty much gets what's coming to them.

That's useful tech for WILDs and falling asleep in general. It probably won't help too much with anything more than that, unfortunately.

RCs are great for raising awareness. I warn against making them habitual, though. When you RC, take the time to study your surroundings as thoroughly as possible. Be completely sure of your state of being before you stop.

      1. I find alarms tend to hurt my recall more than help them. Try training yourself to recognize micro awakenings throughout the night. I started that process with a simple mantra: "I will wake up after every dream." And after a few months, it started happening all by itself (which can get annoying sometimes, but the LDing benefits outweigh the negatives, by far).

      2. I've never really done much experimentation with EILDs. Just be sure to train yourself to recognize the sound IWL and RC properly after hearing it.

Writing down key words upon waking from each dream, not phrases, might be worth trying once or twice, you can always record the details later. =P

I practice WILD when I can't sleep, which is quite often. I'm not putting as much energy into the WILD technique as much as I should, mainly because I feel as if I would be more comfortable doing the MILD technique. I do, obviously, try out WILD methods, though.

Does it need to be exactly the same thing every time, or can you bend it every now and then. I say something along the lines of: "When dreaming, I will know I am dreaming." I shake off any doubts when I get into that zone, but I am sure the underlying doubts are there---they just don't come to mind during that time. I do put forth a huge amount of energy for this, though. I am very imaginative, so I really surround myself in those thoughts to the fullest. When I'm passionate about something, I'm really passionate about it. Unfortunately, this determination can lead to high hopes and inevitable disappointments.

RCs are great for raising awareness. I warn against making them habitual, though. When you RC, take the time to study your surroundings as thoroughly as possible. Be completely sure of your state of being before you stop.
Thank you. I'll work on that.

I don't mind writing the details. I sometimes add more to the writing as I remember throughout the day. As I said, I'm very imaginative, so sometimes my mind will take a piece of the dream and elaborate on it to make a full-length story that was actually not part of the dream, so I need to be careful with that.

I've gotten lucid off one of those before. It's definitely possible.
I'm tired, but I'll warn you now---I'm going to come after you tomorrow to talk about this more.

Oh my. I was pretty taken aback by how closely your technique matches mine. I, too, have been doing the fingers through palm and nose plug RCs, as well as trying MILD every night. I even log my dreams on my iDevice too and I've had utterly no success so far.

Do let me know if you find anything that clicks for you. I've got a strange feeling it'll work for me as well.

      I try. [/another shameless bump]

In all honest, though, this thread has become sort of a discussion instead of a simple welcome thread. Thank you for your welcome, though!
