Can only remember my last dream every night

So I don't think I'm anywhere near becoming Lucid (how many RC do I need to be doing a day btw?) but I've started remembering my dreams real well. 1 every night in pretty good detail. However 2 nights ago I had 2 dreams. The first I dreamed then woke up to go toilet and couldn't be bothered writing it down then fell asleep. Then I had another and woke up just before my alarm and wrote that one down in detail, but could hardly remember my first one. I could remember the environment and general idea but that's all.

Same thing happened last night, except I had 3 and could only remember the last. I think I woke up early twice. (Is that the only way to remember them, by waking up after them? OR could I wake just once up to my alarm and remember more than 1 I had the whole night)

So basically, how do I properly remember more than 1 dream I have per night? Do I have to wake up after each dream? Do I need to be writing it down when I wake up to go toilet in the early hours? Thanks

It is best to wake up after each dream and write it down. It is hard to remember dreams from the beginning of the night. You can always just jot down a few notes. Maybe single words or feelings that will jog your memory in the morning. Sometimes I'll just scribble a few words in the dark, without even turning on a light.

Practice makes perfect. If you wake up in the middle of the night, do what robot butler said, just write down a few things that will jog ur memory. I personally remember around 2 a night pretty steady, sometimes 4 or 5 but, 2 sounds about right. Practice makes perfect. And go check out the tutorials. They might help you get lucid.

Simply remembering a dream every night means you're getting closer to lucidity! We actually do wake up after each cycle, but vaguely remember. As mentioned before, just write down a few notes whenever you wake up in the middle of the night; even if you forget about the dream in the morning at first, it'll come back to you after reading the notes. If you vaguely recall a dream right after waking up, lie still in your bed and try to move as little as possible and attempt to piece your dream(s) together; moving around a lot tends to make you forget . And as jmanjohn said, practice makes perfect!
