My first lucid dream! How unbelievably exciting! :D:D:D Thanks forum!

Yee hah! I just had my first lucid dream!!!

I was walking in the street I walked in as a kid, I was walking home from elementary school to home, but I was my current age (I am ALWAYS my current age, <edit> which is 30 for four more days </edit> in ANY of my dreams, is that the same for most people?).

A weird little substance that looked like a skinned fish, with only a big mouth with scary teeth, was chasing me and I was trying to avoid it. But I couldn't, and it tried to swallow my feet. It was somewhat nightmarish. Then I thought "hey, this creature isn't THAT scary, I can't even feel pain in my feet from the bite! Let's see if I can tear it loose from my foot and throw it away." That was no problem at all, and as I threw it away, I thought, HEY WAIT A MINUTE, that creature doesn't exist!!!

Then it hit me, I tried a reality check I heard a couple of days ago, nose pinching + breathing in through nose. After some trying I was able to breathe in normally!

      BAM! LUCID!

Ofcourse I had NO self control and tried flying immediately, and it kind-of worked, though it felt more like swimming. Then five dream-seconds later I woke up. But my alarm clock was ringing too, so it wouldn't have lasted long anyway I guess

      The memory is SOOOOOO clear!

      I am DEFINITELY pursuing this.

THANKS for all the useful information, I only started trying a couple of weeks ago, I am really excited and proud!

That'd be interesting, coming home from elementary school when you're grown up. It's good you were able to fly in your first lucid; it took me a few tries to perfect my own method. Congratulations!

I've been woken up from lucids with my alarm clock too, especially before school. And I also remember having my mom wake me up when I was in the middle of one. It was horrible.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Haha, luckily I sleep alone about 6 out of 7 nights a week (I have a very convenient and happy LAT relationship) so not a lot of change of that mom waking me up thing happening to me )

It occured to me that I might not even have remembered the lucid dream if I wouldn't have been torn from it by my alarm clock. Or that it would have woken me up anyway, since I read a lot of hints about that happening at early lucid dreams. Or that my lucidity would have been gone in seconds anyway as seems to happen often to beginners.

And it wasn't really 'flying', it was more like a really frantic thought train (which I recall in much detail) which went like "oh damn damn damn I GOT to remain in this dream, wow, I am really dreaming lucidly, awesome, lets see lets see, what's the first thing that comes to mind, quickly before I lose this!!, oh yes ofcourse, flying, lets go, uhm, how do I do that, oh well, lets just see what happens if I lift my legs up". Then I lift my legs up and felt like I was swimming trough very thick air, maybe something oil-like. Then everything around me became really blurry but that was when I realized my alarm clock was going off.

Anyway, now about 3 hours later I'm still excited as hell I hope this happens again soon.

Oh, yeah, thanks for the friend invitation

Yeah... Just keep trying, and one thing seems very very VERY important: go to bed early and make sure you have a lot of hours to spend on dreaming. For me that discipline is HARD, I like staying up late until I really can't anymore and crash. That is not a good start for dreaming and dream recall, especially if you have an alarm clock that goes off like 3 to 5 hours later again ( I mean, depriving yourself of sleep in nights before workdays is not wise for LD purposes... )

So this week I really started going to bed at least nine to ten hours before I need to get up for work again. This costs a lot of time for hobbies etc. but it works miracles for dreams, I notice that within days. I hope I will be able to keep this up...

I only had one until now, last night, but DAMN do I hope I get the next one soon
