      How long to LD?

How long does it usually take to get your first LD?

I'm asking this because I've seen some posts where people claim to have had their first a few days after learning the techneiques.

I never have but, I'm trying to get a DILD. I've known about this type of dream for a few months now but I haven't actually got amazed by it, or trying the techneiques until the past 2 days.
      I can't believe I'm already anxious and stressed I can't do it.

Yes, I've got a dream journal, I've got ''RC'' constantly written on my hand (the text techneique) and evey night Ive been telling myself I'm going to control my dream.

So I was just wondering how long usually does it take? And how long did it take YOU to get your first DILD?

You probably already know - takes time, and it is different for every person.

May take a day, a week, months, years. It vary with the technique you are using and your dedication.

Being stressed about it, will only delay your progress.

Took me 5 days to get my first lucid But I've been recalling normal dreams for years before I came across LD and decided to try it. So... Don't know how long it takes for someone who is completely new to this whole dreaming thing, for example.

I'm afraid nobody can give you a precise answer, cause as Brunor2 said: It is different for every person.

Wish I could tell you for sure -- I haven't had one yet, but I absolutely believe I will, so for me it's a source of excitement rather than stress. Just give yourself permission to go at your own pace. Enjoy the process, think of how enjoyable it will be whenever you get to the point of having lucid dreams. Be confident yet calm.

If you haven't already, build up pleasurable excitement by making a list of things you'd like to do once you're able to begin controlling your dreams. I made a list & then printed out a picture that represents each goal and taped those pictures inside the cover of my dream journal (example: I'd like to be Spider-Man in a dream someday, so on google images I found a picture of some sweet aerial web combat with Vulture from that Web of Shadows game). Also, maybe it would help to think of your upcoming 1st lucid dream as a very early/belated birthday gift - you don't know when it's coming, but it sure will make you happy when you get it!

I've spent the past week just working on my dream recall -- I haven't even TRIED to have a lucid dream yet, because I'm brand new to this stuff & I'm trying to lay the foundation for remembering any lucid dreams. You'll get there, and you can share your excitement with us when you do!

Yeah like everyone will tell you it depends on you as a individual, but within a week of learning about lucid dreams I had 2 very short lucid dreams.

It varies widely. It took me about 3 weeks. Some people get it in days. Walms, another DV member, took years to have his first LD, and yet has more LDs today than almost anyone else I know of.

And don't be worried. As far as we know, there is no such thing as a person who cannot lucid dream.

It took me about 2 months before I had my first one. I get them rarely maybe 1 or 2 - if I'm lucky - a month.

I'm going on two months with still no luck.
As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.

It took two days for me, just try WBTB. Depending if you have to go to school, or work early morning, try taking an afternoon nap. RCs, and always questioning reality never really helped me, cause each time I had an LD, I either just had the random epiphany of "Hey! I am dreaming!", or I went into the dream world fully conscious. Don't stress about it, maybe take a couple of days of breaking from even thinking about lucid dreaming, and you probably will surprise yourself with one. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the help everyone.
But I think I've already answered my own question... I woke myself up last night after realizing I was dreaming, 7 nights after starting. The reason it worked this time is because I did use WBTB.
Good luck to everyone else who can't do it though, I suggest doing WBTB also.

Congrats man!! You're already ahead of me. Will consider trying this method first.

Well, i have always only used DILD, as it is the most common one,i recommend it, together with the WBTB technique.

The only problem with DILDs is that they are spontaneous, what might make you conscious in one dream, will be different in another. Unless you truly have RCs engraved in your head, DILDs can be hard to come by, unless you combine it with WBTB, or MILD. Even try the counting method, that worked for me!
