I'm new here, first forum post

Hi! I'm Tyler Smith and I learner about lucid dreaming from a friend of mine, who is interested in the topic. Last night I did as I was instructed on how to "Dream Journal" I chanted myself my "mantra" and fell asleep, immediately after the dream I herd a loud honking sound. It woke me up, but I remember to stay still and remember my whole dream. Probably one of the coolest things I've ever done. But, I need to know what exactly I should do, and when... I'm assuming I'll continue to dream journal until I find a couple of recurring themes in my dreams, and make tests for them. Whereas then, I will start to attempt lucidity. Any other thoughts or revisions on my plan?

      Thanks for reading!

      Hi Tyler, welcome to Dreamviews!
I've discovered that dream signs are pointless unless you're aware enough to notice them... It's like having a person in your dreams saying "you're dreaming" without you becoming lucid. You should cultivate awareness (there's a link to a guide in my signature if you'd like more information) so you can both recognize your dream signs, AND become lucid without them.

You should also try not to use cues (eg. writing notes on your hands) to encourage reality checks, because you might not have cues in your dreams.

      Good luck. :3
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Hello
The biggest mistake I made when I joined is that I journalled for the first two weeks, then I stopped it and tried to become lucid. This failed because my vividness ended and therefore I did not have enough sense in the dream to reality check. And I am battling to get my 4 dream recall back. So I don't recommend stopping your dream journal too quickly, because it is important for the other methods to work.
