      Which method to start with?

      Hey DV,

I've been keeping a dream journal for about a week now and I'm recalling 1-3 dreams each night with varying detail. I think I can already see a few dreamsigns of mine (in all my dreams so far at some point I've been in a car. So I've started doing RC during the day whenever I'm driving or get in a car with someone else) Anyway the main point of this post is asking what sort of induction method people think it is best to start with? I know most people say there first LDs are normally DILDs but is it ok to at least try a WILD or MILD? What methods worked best for any of you guys when you were starting out?

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the feedback

Hi f1freek. First of all welcome to DV; may your dreaming experiences be joyful!

Well, since you have identified your dream sign, I would recommend DILD. Be sure to keep up with the reality checks, so that they'll carry on into your dream and hence induce a lucid dream whenever you're in a car in your dreams. Also, it is perfectly alright to try different methods to try induce your first lucid dream.

First of all, welcome to DV!!

We have several tutorials to read over that are of great help.

I personally recommend you to attempt MILD. The more focused you are in Lucid Dreaming, the easier they will come to you.

However, I would like to say, it will be nice if you attempt WILD a few times. For some people WILD work great. We have several tutorials about WILD and several people is having a lot of success.

Drop me an PM if you have any questions or you would like to talk!!

I recommend coupling MILD and WBTB, worked great when I was starting out.

      Hi! Welcome to DV

I agree with ninja. WBTB really helped a lot when I was first starting out, but mostly I do DILD's.

My personal opinion is to start with DILD, definitely ombined with MILD, and perhaps WBTB if your sleep schedules allows WBTB.

This is because, once you get through the effort of learning to reliably identify dream signs and become lucid, after that your LD's will come along virtually effortlessly. On the other hand, unless you master some mini-WILD method like CAN-WILD or a DEILD derivative, WILDing will always involve some degree of effort every-single-time you want to do it. Plus, I'd say that learning to WILD is (arguably) even more difficult than learning to DILD reliably. Also, I find that WILDs have an "artificial" feel to them (I'm sure some people will disagree with this, it's just my opinion).

So, long story short, I think putting effort into learning how to DILD reliably is a better long-term investment that will give you better, easier LD's on the long run.

A final note, regardless of which method you use, try to use that one consistently for at least a couple of weeks before switching to something else. this doesn't mean you shouldn't mix things up if you want to, but if you try to do all the methods at once, you'll find you might fail at all of them because you won't be putting enough effort into any single one.
