My first lucid dreams :) - new with questions.

So I discovered this site a couple of months ago and explored it a bit, and since then I've had a few short lucid dreams without really trying.

One of the dreams involved me running around going through a maze of doors trying to open one that would lead me to a certain place (I was unsuccessful). In another I saw someone with a shaved head. I turned away and thought "hair", and when I turned back there it was. (!!)

The weird thing is that in the dreams, I didn't feel especially excited about being lucid like I thought I would. I think it might be because the dreams didn't feel very real. And then it hit me- the dreams were visual only. There wasn't even any sound. In fact, now that I think about it, I don't think I have ever had sound in any my dreams. Is this strange? It's possible that I've just forgotten dreams that have sound, since I don't have the best memory for dreams on top of a bad memory in general, but I don't know...

Another thing I found strange was that in some of those dreams, I didn't feel entirely... myself, I guess. Some of my choices weren't quite the grand ideas I might have when I'm daydreaming about lucid dreaming, you know? Like it was almost a more subconscious part of mind in charge... so would those ones still be considered lucid?

      Any thoughts?

      Oh yeah, and I'm new.
      Hi!

Hi Mira! Welcome to Dreamviews Congrats on having some lucid dreams. It sounds like you had some low level LDs. Like everything else in life, lucid dreams occur on a gradient. You could have acute high vivid lucid dreams where you are aware of every little detial being a creation of your mind, and also have so low level ones like you experienced where you were aware of your dreaming state, but not in full control of your independent thoughts and actions. Keep practicing and I am sure that you will have higher level Lucid Dreams. It just takes practice!

As for the fact that you only had visual in your dreams I think you hit the nail on the head. That has to do with dream recall. The sounds and feelings are all there in dreams, but they may be more difficult to recall. Are you keeping a dream journal? If not, just write down your dreams more often and you will begin to realize the other sensations that are there. If you are already keping a dream journal, just keep at it and maybe write down what sounds should have been there to get your mind ot start thinking about sounds. Good luck and stay Lucid !

Thank you so much Barbizzle for all of that helpful info! I'll start keeping a dream journal. Actually, I just got a new notebook a few days ago. It's been just lying around in my room and I've been wondering what to do with it. Fate? Haha, not really. I always seem to be collecting new journals because they're pretty and then leaving empty.
