New guy here, need some help!

Hey guys, I have a problem, I find myself screwing over my chances of any lucid dreaming. It seems as soon as I know I'm dreaming its as if I can't do anything and I end up trying my hardest to open my eyes and wake up, i don't know why but this is how most of my dreams I'm aware of end up. I haven't done a lot of reading on here yet, just a few threads about the basics here and there. Is there any way I can get past this barrier? Thanks!

      Hi espx, welcome to Dreamviews!
I've never had the problem of purposefully trying to wake up in a dream before.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being as aware as you could get (like in real life), how aware were you in the dreams? If you were only a 5 or 6, you might not have been conscious enough to make a proper decision within the dream. After all, the logic center of your brain might have been shut off.

In that case, work on awareness and be more skeptical of whether you could be dreaming.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

It's weird, the first thing I do when I realize I'm dreaming is try to wake up by opening my eyes, I can't help it and I don't know why I do it. I'm fully aware I'm dreaming at that point, and just like that I force myself awake. I can remember details of the dream after I wake up, so I'd have to say strong awareness. It's as if something doesn't want me to continue.

Maybe you were unsure, nervous, or overwhelmed? Other than that, I'm not sure what could be causing it.
