Newbie on deck; with journal questions.

      Hi there.

I've never had a lucid dream but have been taking baby steps toward lucidity for a few months now.

The dream journal is the topic of my questions; I don't write my dreams down, I record them. Has anyone else adopted this method? Most of the journals I hear about are written — I've never heard of anyone else recording their dreams on their iPhone or similar device.

Do you think I lose something of the experience in recording them this way? I plan to sit down and write all of my dreams out in a journal but simply haven't had the time. Honestly I think it's easier to listen back to them and get a feeling of the emotion of the dream — it seems to come through in my voice given I'm recording the dream immediately after waking.

How many people think to themselves — upon waking — "Oh that dream really isn't worth recording." and roll over to go back to sleep? I tend to do that from time to time if the dream isn't particularly entertaining.

Thanks in advance for reading and thanks in advance for any and all help you can give me on this.

I write mine down mainly because I don't feel like talking after I just woke up. You may want to try out both methods and see what works best for you, but if your recall is already good using the recorder then I think you should probably stick with that.

I actually did that this morning. Sometimes I just think the dream was kind of lame or not worth writing down and sometimes I'm just really tired and can't muster the energy to get up and start writing . I try to write at least one dream per night though.

I've tried both methods and I find I get a lot more detail when I write instead of record, my dream recall is a lot stronger when I use this method. It's really up to you, I would suggest trying both and seeing the different effects they have for you. If you find recording has a larger impact on your dreaming than stick with it.

i do it all the time , its why my DJ only has three pages filled. My non lucids aren't particularly entertaining so i just forget about them, i want to try the voice recording but i don't have a device capable enough of doing
They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore.
It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language.
Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists.
The dreamer is banished to obscurity.
Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too.
      By dreaming, every day.

I think that recording dreams is just as effective as writing them down.

      Why thank you.
Do I happen to know you, or is it a simple coincidence that you flashed cookie monster at me?
If you're who I think you are, or could be, then you will get the relevance. If not; please ignore my rambling.
