      New here

      Hi,

I just recently took and interest in dreams, and especially lucid dreams. What peaked my interest initially was something I read in a conversation between the Dailai Lama and scientists on sleep. Experienced yogis can go through the 4 stages of sleep while they're conscious, and they frequently use dream yoga for personal growth and spirtiuality.

I've noticed since I've been meditating that I have experienced lucid dreaming on several occasions, dreamed I was a different person, or in one case, a rat, have had flying dreams, and dying dreams. I'm only now learning the benefits of what we can do in and through the dream world, and I'm really exicted about the possibilities.

I've always considered myself a vivid dreamer. I dream a lot, and usually remember them. Or so I thought. I read I should keep a dream journal and write the dream down immediately. I thought, I don't need that! So, last night I had this vivid dream. I awoke from it and tried to remember all the details before going back to sleep. This morning, I can't remember anything of the dream, not one detail! I definitely need to use a dream journal.

Do we have to journal forever? Or can you drop it at some point? I hate the idea of waking to write in the middle of the night. I generally wake from dreams four or fives times a night. Is this normal? Do I have to write every dream down?

Thanks! This forum and site looks really great. Dana

Hi Dana! Welcome to Dream Views!

I used to keep a dream journal and it definately helped with my recall. I got lazy and stopped writing down my dreams and my recall has definately suffered because of it!

I can't tell you if waking from dreams four or five times a night is normal.. though it may be normal for you. I know that alot of people wish their subconscious would wake them up after every dream.. that way they would remember more of them!

It would be great if you wrote down every dream but if, not, at least write down the ones that captured your imagination.

      Hey Dana...welcome to Dreamviews!!!

I am WAY too lazy to wake up in the middle of the night to write any sort of dreams down. You could always get a tape recorder and keep it bedside so that you can just speak your dreams into it throughout the night. When I wake from a dream mid-night, lucid or not, I usually just take a minute to recall it, and to remember specific details about it, and in doing so, I put it into my memory. However alot of times I still will completely forget dreams...until something the next day sparks a memory and then it comes back to me.

Good luck in keeping a journal or however you plan on doing it. If you need any help don't hesitate to send me a private message.

Last night I dreamed about keeping a dream journal. I was looking at it, amazed that the writing so so clear, so angular, so not my writing! I showed it to someone, I think my ex manager, because I was so impressed with how neat it was considering I'd written it in the dark. I wish in the dream I'd taken a second look at the writing.

When I woke this morning and looked at what I'd written during the night (in the dark) it was my very sloppy writing, even harder to read than usual:-)

I've heard of pen lights but don't know where to get them. I don't want to use a recorder because I'm afraid my talking will wake my kids and dog and wake me up more than I want to be. I'm a writer, so I can do it almost in my sleep but I don't like writing it down in the middle of the night. I hope after awhile, I just have better recall.

Last night I had 4 or 5 dreams that I remember, but they blur into each other weirdly. It's hard for me to tell where one dream ends and another picks up.

      recorder

      Hi
I have a recorder from Radio Shack. It’s about 50 bucks and worth the money. You can whisper and it will pick up every sound. It keeps track of dates, time and can be uploaded to computer all very automated. Almost mistake proof. If you do get one get one with a link to put info on your computer. You can use earphones to listen.

Hey dreamtamer007. I purchased one of those recently too. It works. I like it.
      I notice you mention "whisper".
For anyone that is going to use one of these I would suggest whispering. Talking itself can snap you out of a good dream recall state of awareness. And the louder you are the more profound the effects.

(wouldn't that be crazy if you recorded a dream of an experiance of you being someone else in your dream and in the morning as you go to listen to the tape you here the voice of that... someone else

I went to Office Depot and found a nice little book light that I've attached to my dream log. It works very simply, light automatically if you pull the top up, then shuts off when you close it. I like it and think it should work well.

Welcome to our funny, but friendly forum. I hope you stay 4ever. Usually, the only LDs I write down are the Tasks. Other than that, I usually don't bother, considering I LD about NES too often. I also write down the sci-fis & the shared dreams that I have. If you want to see my journal, click on the link below my picture!

Thank you, nesgirl. I wanted to ask you what sci-fis are. I was reading another thread you were in, which was fascinating about shared dreaming, but I couldn't figure out what sci-fis are.

Also, what do you mean by NES?

      Remember, newbie here:-) thanks!

Usually referred to as Nintendo Entertainment System, it is now used to abreviate Nintendo (i.e: nesgirl=Nintendogirl) Also, look in the threads, & I have provided answers to that. If you have a hard time, look in my profile, & it could provide a link to the area!
