Smile Brand new to lucid dreaming

      Hey there, dreamers!
I just recently discovered this forum and lucidity a few days ago, and I instantly became interested. Spending most of my time browsing the NG art forum, drawing and playing piano, I'm certain lucid dreaming could become a helpful and amazing inspiration source!

I remember when I was around ten (I'm currently 16) I had some dream control. I wasn't realizing I was dreaming in all cases, but sometimes I did. (I think this is normal? as one spends much more time in REM stage when younger)

What I want to know is really, what is the best and most effective way to start lucid dreaming as often as possible?
How many times a week should I be expecting?
And how much time does it usually take to have lucid dreams regularly?

Also, yesterday, I could not recall anything at all from my dreams. I figured from doing some reading, that writing a dream journal is important, but how do I do that if I cannot recall anything from my dreams?

      Thank you in advance!

Welcome! Starting a dream journal is the first and most important step into having lucid dreams. Just keep a notebook and pen close to your bed, whenever you wake up in the middle of the night, or from any dream, just lay still and try to recall as much of the dream as possible, then write it down. In the beginning there won't be as many dreams recalled, but it gets better the more you do it. Often DILDs and MILDs are easiest, they require you to do reality checks during the day and asking yourself if you're dreaming, and repeating a mantra before falling asleep. Check out the wiki for tutorials and such. The number of lucids a week depend on how much time you spend during the waking day, and is different for each person along with having regular lucids. WILD is a technique that would give you regular lucids, but I find it's difficult for beginners, but each person is different.
