I just had my first lucid dreaming during a mid-day nap. I only read about the concept of reality checks a week ago, and amazingly, after walking past a mirror in my dream, I did a few. Turns out I had 6 fingers on each hand, and my reflection in the mirror looked all crazy and blurry. This particular dream was extremely vivid all along, even before I realized I was dreaming, which I think is the reason I was conscious/aware enough to wonder if I was dreaming in the first place. When I realized I was in a dream, the happiness and excitement I felt was immense and indescribable. I remember thinking to myself that I shouldn't become too excited, or I might wake myself up, so I did some "dream stabilization" techniques that I learned lurking on this very forum, even though I never actually started waking up. I think the dream must have already been very stable, because it was an unusually long dream, and it felt like I was in this dream for a good hour and a half before I became lucid. Nothing very notable happened within this dream after I became lucid, but I just had to post this. I'm a very lazy person, so I've only actually tried to induce a lucid dream half a dozen times, if that, and always failed. I always wondered if perhaps it wasn't even real, and people on the internet were all just lying and trying to convince themselves it is, like telekinesis, remote viewing, chakras and all that crap that I'm 99.99% sure is baloney.

But yeah, lucid dreaming is real, and even though I didn't manage to do any real dream control, I actually tried within the dream, and saw just enough to know that I could with practice, but it may be harder than I had imagined it would be. I don't think it's as easy as simply wanting something to happen... I tried that.

AH, I almost forgot. After becoming lucid, I had two false awakenings in a row. This kinda freaked me out. I remained lucid during them both, and the 2nd time, I pissed in my bed. That wasn't pleasant. Thankfully, I woke up for real 5 minutes later, and went to the bathroom.

The main point of this post is to assure anybody that may be experiencing doubts, that lucid dreaming is not a hoax. It is completely real, and actually happened to me by accident. The dream was long, vivid, and felt completely real. I had all 5 senses and all of my mental faculties within this dream. I'm more excited and pumped to continue learning more about lucid dreaming now than I ever was.
