Greetings :) I have a simple question regarding 'induction techniques' and music.

      Hello there

First of all, I'm fairly familiarized with the concepts of lucid dreaming. I keep a dream log that's been evolving from half remembered dreams to fully detailed, almost vivid dreams.

Now, I haven't been able to lucid dream yet, but I feel I'm getting close. I've been trying to use the WBTB/MILD induction technique, but so far.. the only thing I've accomplished is falling back to sleep without recollection of my intentions :p guess I'm not concentrating enough.

That's where an idea I had earlier this morning comes in.
Is it possible to make a reality check in your dream by hearing music?

I had the idea of putting my headphones before going to bed and set my MP3 player's alarm to 4-5 hours after I begin dreaming, so it plays a distinctive song in the middle of my dream.
I suppose the moment I hear this song I will remember setting the alarm on my MP3 player, thus, realizing I am indeed dreaming.

My only question is.. will I be able to hear the music? and most importanly, make it a reliable reality check?

      Thanks in advance

You most likely will not hear the music, your brain will hear it, then basically do nothing about it, or it can come into your dream by bringing things up that you think about when you listen to that song.

This is in my experience, and everybody is different, so I would give it a go for sure.

      Good luck!

You would be able to hear the music, but it may wake you up. Or you can hear it and ignore it, forget that you set it up. It can even determine how your dream can turn out. My best advice is to use the DILD and MILD methods together. With a WBTB, you're sure to have one soon. Just keep trying!

Thanks I'll keep trying with the WBTB+DILD/MILD method. I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later .

But I'll still give the music a go for tonight. I guess it'd be like an experimental failsafe method in case I don't achieve lucidity through the above methods.

Either way, I'll have the answer by tomorrow morning. If the music doesn't work, I'll just discard it

      Thanks again ^^
