      Hey everyone!

Hi guys I just joined here, my name is Alex.

I'm 17 and I just experienced lucid dreaming for the first time 2 days ago. I had been reading a lot about it and tried to get myself to for a few days before I finally did. The only thing that is strange is that I rarely dream and when I do they're very broken and I almost never remember them. This was different though with the lucid dream. It was remarkable. It was still more disconnected than I think most people's dreams are because I could feel myself lying in bed throughout the whole thing but it was a lot clearer and more of a memory than any other dreams I've had.

Well I'll explain the dream I suppose. It started where I was in a small candle lit stone room and there was a stark white sheep in the corner of the room. I instantly thought that I was dreaming. I'm not really sure why but I just knew. I looked down at my hands and they were different. I can't really explain how they were but they were. I then pinched my arm and felt absolutely nothing. I was sure I was dreaming. Next, I instantly began picturing a place that I would like to be. I don't know why I pictured this place but I pictured a city with very very high walls. It was stone but not like cobblestone or anything. It was just all solid stone. Anyways, there were a lot of small stone houses and stuff and a church to the left side. I turned around in the stone house and looking out the door, I saw this city. I immediately leaped from the doorstep and flew around the city and then out a large archway in the front. There was a path outside this. I flew over the path for a bit and came upon a spot where there was a ditch on the left side of the path and there was a fenced in area on the right side of the path. At the bottom of the ditch was a solid black sheep. In the fenced in area there was another stark white sheep. I used my mind powers to lift the white sheep up over the path and into the pit with the black sheep. I don't know why but I knew I had to do this. So after this, I kept flying down the path. (by the way, all around me, there were hills upon hills that just went on endlessly in every direction except where the city was. The grass was very very saturated and bright. It was similar to some claymation scenery I've seen. It was also very sunny and the colors in the sky and path were bright and saturated as well.) soon after, the scene and overall look of the dream changed. It seemed that I had instantly flown into an area that was fall. The colors were a lot more realistic now and the area had a sort of friendly but chilly feeling to it. It was like a late fall day were you're outside just enjoying the coolness and looking at the trees. Anyways, this area had the path continue (it curved back and forth a bit) to a cobblestone wall, which wasn't quite as tall as the average person's waist. On both sides of this area, there were woods. They seemed to just go on for a while although I didn't really look at them much. At this time, someone whom I recognized to live on my friend's street rode their bike along the path. I flew over their head and they called out to me saying, "Merci beacoup!" again, I don't know what the reasoning behind this was but I didn't question it at the time. So I kept following this person on the bike, while flying, and they kept on down the path and past the cobblestone wall. Past the cobblestone wall, there was a rocky beach which slowly went out into water that expanded into fog. I kept following the person on the bike. They rode out onto the water and continued riding on top of the water. For some reason I tried to fly faster to catch up with them but I couldn't fly any faster than I was already going. I followed them a bit more then I got "caught" in the air and couldn't move anymore. I could still see the scene but then I woke up.

Now this was a long description but the entire thing took place over a period of about 10 minutes real time and dream time (I had woken up just before this dream because my brother was getting up but went back to sleep and woke up again 10 minutes later). Although I had a lot of description of the area and stuff, I remember it being sort of disconnected. As in, the images were only partially there but I still knew what they all were because I was seeing them and thinking them or something. It's hard to explain what I mean.

Well I guess I really am posting on this site because I'm hoping that I can find some tips on how to maybe "complete" the connectivity of my dreams. I really want to be able to sleep and sort of have another reality that I can do whatever I want in. I've been successful in lucid dreaming again since this dream every night at least once but the dreams were very short and even more disconnected. So far this was the longest dream that I've had in a long time that I can remember and that was lucid. The whole idea of all this gets me really excited so I hope this isn't too long for people to read. I hope that eventually I can use this as a resource to possibly compose music (similar to Aphex Twin) or to aid me in understanding the workings of myself.

      Thanks for reading =)

Welcome to DV Spork and WOW! That's one long lucid for one who hasn't had many. You should feel lucky, and really use the advantage you have as you seem to be able to do this without much effort. Dreams aren't always very vivid, and sometimes there's just a memory of an event. Also even though you might have experienced the most vivid and insane dream ever, you might forget alot about it when you wake up.

My recommendation is that you increase your dream recall. By doing exactly what you did just now. Write dreams down. Having a DJ is a great way of keeping track of your dreams and is also great motivation!

While in the lucid next time, try to look at your hands for a longer time and say: "Increase Clarity!" This should increase the clarity of the dream.

I've had a lucid which felt so real that I was sure I was awake. I even did a few RC's and even though they failed. It was way too real to be a dream. This seems to be random and sometimes you'll get low level lucids, and sometimes high level lucids.

You should look into the different DV Tutorials - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource and the forum. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM me or any of the other Dream Guides.

      Keep on dreaming!

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't realize that 10 minutes is considered long for a lucid dream. I haven't really read many experiences themselves, just about how to become lucid and a lot about dreams in general.

As far as what to do to increase clarity of the dream, I meant more of before I fall asleep than while sleeping. I mean I guess saying "Increase Clarity!" could help but only if you believe it will. I don't know if my subconscious really believes that since I strictly believe that you should be able to do anything in a lucid dream seeing as its only in your mind, there wouldn't be any set "rules" except for those you create for yourself weather you're aware of creating them or not. But anyways, I meant things like taking vitamin-B6 supplements and melatonin. Do you know if there are any physical type exercises a person could do that might ready themselves for sleep and maybe help them sleep more deeply? I've also heard that 5-HTP, which can be found in turkey, milk, potatoes, pumpkin, and various greens, will help increase the vividness of dreams.

I think I'll be adding more potatoes and bananas (for the vitamin-B) to my diet =P

There are supplements which all increase the vividness of dreams, they can all be found here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f44/supple...ository-56235/

I would recommend you do it naturally first. If you don't have to take supplements, then you shouldn't really. You can do it on your own.

Meditating is something you can do before bed to increase both recall and vividness. I've done it some myself regularly. Now I do it when I feel like I need it. To clear your mind just before bed makes it more likely for it to cook something up for you when you are asleep

Well, your mind is used to the world being a certain way, and knows how things work and how things are related to one another. By taking a pill, which contains Vividness Extract, will actually work. Like you say, if you believe it will happen, it will happen. Then you shouldn't set your mind to that something is impossible.

Rubbing your hands or touching some object in a dream will make it more clear. You activate your senses by doing so.

      Keep on dreaming!

Ah, I'll try doing some meditation before bed hah. Also, you're right, I guess since simply saying "Increase Clarity!" could work then why not have it work. I'll try things like this and also touching things.

      Thanks again!
