      Allow me to introduce myself.

      Ahoi there!

I'm Mariëlle and I don't have a problem. Can someone give me advice? Sorry, I always feel like I'm in an AA-meeting when introducing myself.

So, I'm new here. I have lurked around here for sometime now and I find everything to be very interesting. All you people seemed so friendly I just had to join this community.

I had my first lucid dream yesterday. (Victory!) It was an amazing experience. I had tried lucid dreaming in the past a few times, but I never really succeeded. Yesterday I had watched the movie 'Waking life' and I was so into it. I was determined to have a lucid dream myself. I went to bed and said to myself: "Mariëlle, tonight you're gonna have your first knowingly lucid dream.' That must have worked. I hadn't done a reality check in my waking life for years but for some reason (I think because it was in the movie) I did it in my dream. In my dream I was talking to my sister and her husband (who i rarely see in real life) about the fact that I was having a lucid dream and what it felt like. I'll never forget what it felt like.

I really want to keep doing it. So I am going to keep a journal and do reality checks during the day. Maybe i'm a bit too ambitious since I've had only one lucid dream yet but I really looking forward to learning to influence my dreams and go flying and stuff like that.

So I think that pretty much sums up what I'm doing here.

      Sleep well my friends

Ahoj, Mariëlle. It's nothing wrong to be ambitious, in fact, seems to be quite good. Now, congratulations on your first Lucid Dream, quite the achievement. Just don't get way too excited, or you may lose one or more dreams.
Keep on going, don't give up, and soon you will be flying across nebulae screaming something that only you may know. Or maybe not, your dream, not mine. Even though I wouldn't quite want to do that, hm. Oh, look at me rumbling.
Anyway, sleep well, and sleep tight. Just don't mix dreams with reality, yes?

Welcome to Dream Views, Marielle. (Lovely name, btw.) Congratulations on your first lucid! You definitely shouldn't worry about being too ambitious, when you first start out. Different levels of enthusiasm work for different people, so if setting your aim high is what helps you achieve your goals, then go with it! On the other hand, if you find that your feeling of rushing into it ultimately keeps you from progressing (which does happen, sometimes), then all you have to do is slow it down a bit, and you are likely to get back on track. Sometimes it takes a little while to find a groove, and what works for you.

Waking Life is a great movie. Inspirational, to say the least. The fact that you were able to induce a lucid dream after watching it is awesome, and you should feel pretty empowered. Watching movies before bed usually helps me with dream incubation, so you should experiment with that a bit more - trying to dream about certain scenes, situations or themes that you have seen in whatever movie you watch. If you begin to show some consistency with that ability, I could only imagine that it would help you in becoming lucid, more often.

This really is a great community, so if you have any questions along the way, either use the search option or don't hesitate to ask any one of us for help. Good luck, and enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the site. Your intro reminds me of Fight Club. Which was nice hope you can be too.

That actually sounds pretty exciting to me, maybe someday I will. You'll be the first one to know

I was actually planning to watch avatar tonight, but after reading your dream journal I wasn't so sure that was a good idea. But I'm definitely going to experiment with watching movies. Tonight I played Mario bros 3 on the Nes for hours with a couple of friends, and it's kind of stuck in my head now so maybe I'll have a dream about that. That would be awesome.

Nice! A Mario dream could be a lot of fun.
