What are the effects of too much Lucid Dreaming.

Seeing as people are "aware" whilst lucid dreaming does this have any effect on everyday life. ie, making people lethargic. over-tired or stressed. Just a thought. Also could Lucid Dreaming get out of control.

I think that dreams manifest themselves to speak to our minds and bodies in some form or another. Some dreams are just collages of images throughout the day, but some dreams have meaning. Maybe even repressed memories...illnesses etc. If we are always lucid in dreams then I think we will miss out on these messages that our subconsious is trying to get through to us.

That sounds reasonable. But I wonder what percentage is healthy. Also it would be interesting to know if there have been any studies done on this.

If it did, it would have happened to me by now!! So I seriously think it has no effect at all!

I'm lucid practically all the time now, thanks to my latest method. Very rarely am I non-lucid, and I think those are the ones where my subconscious actually wants to give me a message. Most dreams are probably meaningless, and you can still get meaning across when the person's lucid anyways.

So, I guess it would have effected you too, if you are at a high LD level, that is.

Nah Nesgirl...I'm typically only lucid like 20% at night. I get most of my LDs early morning/daytime...then im like 70% lucid.

Seriously? I thought that you would be able to have one at least once a week, although I was certain that you didn't have them everynight for long periods of time.

I think you kinda misunderstood me. I will have lucids like 2-3 nights a week. And like 5 days a week. I was using those percents to represent the amount of time I was lucid in comparison to the amount of time spent dreaming.

Cool! Well, too bad that I always end up having 1 long LD a night every night.

Um...yeah. You know that reaks of sarcasm. And you should be a little more sensitive to the learning disabled lucid dreamers (LD LDers) on DV...as Howetzer would put it and don't make a joke or brag that you can LD all night every night.

This is getting a little confusing. What I was trying to say was can a person control the amount of lucid dreams he or she has. I see the allure of being in control of one's dreams but only when I wished it to be that way.

Haha. Sorry for going so off-topic dreamboat. But yeah there have been occasions where I have been lucid and it got boring so I chose to sort of "forget" and it went into a regular dream. So I think it is entirely possible to control whether or not you stay lucid once you are lucid. Is that what you are asking?

Yeah, sometimes the factor of it being a dream is important only in so far as to inform one particular choice in a dream, and then, after the choice is made, it is okay to again take the dream seriously. For instance, a recurring motif for me is to lose things or to get lost within dreams, and so my Dream Mind has decided to help me out before I can waste too much time in dreams, going back for stuff I don't need, by allowing me to know that I am dreaming, and that momentary realization helps me to re-focus and keep moving forward.

      ...

I once heard from an old man that too much lucid dreaming can cause lung problems...He was serious....
I just heard him saying that, but never put it in account....He was selling jems and precious stones, in a shop here in my city...

I HOPE he is not true....

Well, do you see me having asthma? No! In fact, I almost never get sick, & when I do, I look forward to LDing. The only thing alot of LDing can do is get you into position for a sci-fi (don't kill me!
), & that could take years of constant LDing!

Back on topic about the effects of lucid dreams. Here are a few:

You will view the world with fresh eyes
Reality wil mean something totally different to you now
You will feel a sense of connectedness to the universe that you never had before
You will feel a sense of peace
      You will feel more rested
Your mind will be clearer during the day
You will have reduced stress and frustration since you can live out your fantasies in LDs
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
