      Help remembering dreams.

I'm very bad at remembering my dreams. I'm already keeping a dream journal, getting a good amount of sleep, relaxing before bed and try to think about remembering my dream.

But is there anything else that can help you? Memory exersises or something...

      I already know about foods.

I found that the longer I kept my dream journal the more I was able to write everyday about my dreams. Simple as that.

i have found very little differnces in what kind of foods i eat. i would imagine if a person lived in a cave and got very little proper vitamins and nutrition then there would be a massive increase in dream recall and vividness once they came to regular society and had a healthy diet and sleep schedule. for regular people though i'm convinced it's at least somewhat sugar pill effect (i think it works, so it works!). especially vitamin b6, i hear way too much about it. it's in sooooooo many things we eat, i don't think taking a pill of it on top of already having healthy levels in your body will make a difference. however like i said someone with a b6 deficiency would notice a marked difference.

as far as recall, go to bed with the intention to wake up and remember your dreams after they occur. if this doesn't work (it's not enough for me, i'm a mega heavy sleeper.) set an alarm to wake you up 4.5, 6, and/or 7.5 hours after you go to bed. these are intervals of ninety minutes when you are likely to be dreaming and in the later sleep cycle so they should be longer dreams. also you will be more rested and find easier to remember and write them down. sleeping in can help too. after eight hours of sleep or so dream cycles become longer and more frequent with only short delays between REM (dream sleep) periods.

there is a practice to do where you write down a few targets for each day of the week. like today your targets are:
the next time you see a banana.
the next time you hear a dog bark
the next time you get into a car
the next time you eat fruit

the goal is to notice the next time one of these things happens and do a state test (test to see if you're dreaming, read text twice see if it blurs, hold your nose and try to breath, etc.). you only need to remember once for each goal and then you've accomplished it for the day. if you realize you missed one later in the day then you failed for that target even if you notice the same target again. get really good at this and your prospective memory will develop and help you LD. the idea is if you can remember to do a state test while awake with no outer help and just your mind then you can remember to do the same while dreaming. combine this practice with MILD which is explained in the dream views wiki section under DV tutorials. good luck!!

I just repeated "I will remember my dream" as I fell asleep until I could remember a few a night. Before I started LDing I could only remember 2-3 dreams a year. I wonder if that's a relatively low number...
