The last two nights I've gone to bed looking foward to the next morning when i can record my dreams, but with no luck. Last night I even repeated the phrase " I am going to remember all of my dreams fully when i wake up." I woke up this morning remembering almost nothing. Something like ; My girlfriend was in it. But im not even positive. I go to bed at 11-ish and wake up 5 - 5.30. Is that too late? Idn please give me some solutions.
      Thanks.

Possibly try waking up at 3:30ish and try to remember your dreams. Then go back to sleep. Usually if I don't remember anything at 3:30, then I will remember my dream I had from 3:30 to the time I woke up (6-7am).

Concentrate on what you were just thinking about. Then work your way backwards - what were you doing before that? Run over the details in your mind again, remembering keywords or phrases or scenes in your mind. Then open your eyes, grab your DJ and scribble down anything you can remember. Even if it's only a few words or sentences.

Don't stress about recall, it'll only make it worse. Just be very aware that you dream every night and you're bound to remember somthing at some point.

oh and welcome to the forum

I reccomended this to mastergamer i think, and he said it worked the next day.

Try my method tonight. Before you go to bed, lie down and: Breath in (say one to your self) breath out. Do this all the way to 100. Remember to stay as relaxed as you possibly can. say to yourself: After i have a dream i will wake up and write the dream in my Dream journal (I highly recomend getting a note book and using it as a DJ) After you write you dream down, go back to bed and think about dreaming and becoming lucid. then go back to bed. I dont know how it works but it works for me. just repeat the process untill u get up in the morning. Tell me your results whenever you can!

In addition to what has been said...

Perhaps you are a deep sleeper? Can you ever remember dreams?

For a lighter sleep perhaps go to bed earlier, wear less covers, open the window to let in air and sounds, or open the curtains to let in light. Move your bed? Make sure you are fully relaxed before retiring - hot bath, cup of cocoa, relaxation exercises etc... That way your sleep may be better quality - if you are only sleeping 6 hours that sounds like its bordering on too little? So by having top quality sleep its seems likely you will have got the non REM stages out of the way leaving plenty of time for dreaming.

Also its very important that you try to remember as the very first thing you do, as soon as you realise you are awake. Don't even open your eyes. When you open your eyes, maybe it would be good if the first thing you see is your dream diary, RC note or a dreamcatcher - something to remind you to try to remember!

Also when making an affirmation like you said - you have to really really mean it! Imagine that you need to tell yourself to wake at 4am to catch a plane to go on holiday - but you have no alarm clock! Now say the affirmation in the same way...

      Good Luck

When you wake up in the morning just sit there for a few minutes and concentrate on remembering your dreams, write down anything you can remember like and object, event or even an emotion. Any of these can trigger your memory to come back very easily.

Woot. I woke up this morning pissed, thought i hadn't remembered anything. Well in my shower im like, "God damnet where did that Tuna come from!" I then rememebered that A giant tuna was infront of my speeding Jeep forcing me to drive off of it. I followed the dream back further and remembered how I came on the plane as a police officer and changed in teh bathroom to be a pilot then hijacked it. Of course I didnt do anything a terrorist would.

I also remember doing some blonde chick and i believe i was bigger then usual, so that might be a dream sign... The weirdest thing that happened was some fatty was rolling in the fusalage in a king-size bed saying, " This is my hotel room." So, whenever I see a fatty, I'm going to do a RC.

Thanks guys for the relaxation techniques, I think thats what enabled me to pay attention. Last night I counted to 200, breathing in-saying 1- breathing out. I also had only one cover and had recently took a hot bath. Thanks again, and if you know any, plz post some more relax and pre-sleep techniques.

Self suggestion usually always works, just repeat to your self that you will wake up after your dream periods and remember your dreams. Trust me the bodies internal clock is very accurate at this sort of stuff. You can also repeat to yourself about going lucid.

For rocket-fuelled relaxation techniques can I suggest you look into yoga - meditaion (hatha/ kundalini/ vipassana etc) and t'ai chi / chi gong? There's one particular approach I like in chi gong that uses the image of drawing silk from a cocoon. This is a progressive relaxion technique where you aim to allow energy to flow freely in a circuit around the body. Chi (energy) goes where its directed by the mind - so... my take on this is that you relax say your perineum, then grow that sense of expanding relaxation up your spine (and down the other side in a loop - storing excess in your dantien/ hara/ belly) without breaking consciousness of the parts you have already relaxed - until your whole body-mind is one great sea of expanding light energy. That's the drawing silk bit - you can't do it too fast or it breaks - too slow and it sags. In the Indian yoga traditions the energy (kundalini - sexual energy) is usually drawn up the body from the root chakra (energy centre) then out of the crown chakra at the top of the head. There's a note of caution here - it has been said that raising the kundalini can be dangerous if not done without proper preparation and guidance... You can imagine the effect of running the brain on raw sexual energy! I never had any problems with this - but then I've been saturated with hippy stuff since I was a child Oh there was this one time when I did it very stoned and had to stop because I felt like I was going to explode or take off or something...

Mantak Chia writes well on this... He's done a few books - the one I'm thinking of is called something like Sexual Energy Secrets.

Try hypnotizing your self. I dont know how this works either but it works with me too. Do the breathing thing i said and say to your self when you want to wake up over and over again. It also helps to drink two big glasses of water.Whenever i try to do this it works with me.Oh, also you can train yourself to have false awakening by doing this, but say to yourself thatyou will wake up in your dream.REMEMBER ALWAYS to do nose reality checks when you wake up at night. Hope this helps!Good luck!!

I had the same problem, and iv found that laying with my eyes closed when i wake up and just letting my mind wander helps alot - I dont try to remember my dreams, I just think. when doing this, I found that I would think of one small snipit and it would grow as i remembered all the dream. other times, when i had a really good deep sleep the previous night, I cant remember any dreams; dont freek out tho, cause most of the time something durring the day triggers the "growth" of the dream memmory. like today, I couldnt remember any dreams from lastnight, so i got up and i was in physics class and we were talking about how temperature goes down as the preasure goes down (this is going somewhere i prommise) so then i remembered that happening durring scuba diving class - when you let the air out of your tank fast, it would get really cold - and that was like a seed that sprouted into my entire dream lastnight were i was scuba diving and i could breath underwater ect. so yea, just dont freek out about it and youll be fine
