The subconcious, dreams, the soul, the brain, near death experiences - fascinating mysteries

Hello everyone, I'm an absolute newbie in LD, but am lucky enough to have good dream recall, although occasionally I have dreams I'd rather not recall.

I hope to find techniques which will help me in my day to day life, and help me quit smoking. I'd also like to find out more about myself, what drives me and what holds me back. Anyway hello from freezing SW UK

Welcome, I believe you have found the right place to discuss those mysteries.

You are driven by your desire to gain pleasure, and held back by your need to avoid pain. One and zero, like everything else! I can try to reprogram you on the smoking when you're ready...

You should try Stephen LaBerge's book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming. I've learned a lot from it. Good luck on your LDs.

How a recurring dream helped land me my dream job

Thanks for the replies, I'll check out that book cspycer.

I totallly underachieved at school, ended up working in dead end jobs. Started to get recurring dreams centered around universities. After a while of just surviving, living for the weekend, I enrolled in an access course which lead to university, a good degree and my current job in an industry leading firm. Opportunities seemed to open up at just the right time. Now maybe I'd have made these decisions anyway, but I feel the nagging feeling these dreams gave me really spurred me on to take the risk.

Now I want to be able to decode my dreams and who knows even influence them, Zen Master style.

      Anyway Happy New Year

Wow, glad you managed to change your destiny by listening to your dreams - very cool. You don't see that too much these days.

Your story reminds me of a Euro-Dance song by Sylver that my wife likes; "Life is too short so don't ignore the clues you get at night."
