      Question First Sleep Paralysis Experience

This morning I woke up and it was only like 9:30 or something, so I went back to sleep. I started dreaming about me racing a shopping cart through an empty store with my brother, and for some reason, I just realized I was dreaming. I said to my brother in the dream, "Dude, I'm dreaming-" and as soon as I said that I got sucked out of it and "woke up" to find myself in sleep paralysis. I couldn't move, I almost felt like I was being smothered/suffocated, my face felt weird, it felt like I was spiraling downward kinda, and sound was like all distorted and stuff. It lasted for like 3 seconds or something, then I snapped out of it. It was really reminiscent to being on salvia, if anyone else has ever smoked that (and if you haven't, it fucking sucks). Basically it was scary as shit.

My question is: is this normal to experience when becoming lucid for the first time ever? I didn't TRY to become lucid in my dream, it just happened, and my dream ended as soon as I realized it. But I've only heard of sleep paralysis, and never actually had it. Is it normal? Can it be like dangerous or ongoing or something?

edit: Also, when I woke up, it was only like 10:00 or something, so I entered REM sleep in like less than half an hour... which isn't supposed to happen I think...

is it normal for a first time? it happens its not going to happen to everyone, but it happens. I don't remember much about post sleep paralysis, but I believe it's harmless, but just feels strange for however many seconds. I think it only happens every here and there. By the way welcome to DV! if you have anymore questions or concerns ask them on the forum or ask a moderator, admin, or dream guide. hope I helped out!

You know now that I think about it, I entered slight Sleep Paralysis, the first time I had a lucid dream too.

Sleep Paralysis is in NO way dangerous.

It's 100% natural and happens to everyone, EVERY night. The only difference is sometimes you are consciously aware of it happening. It can be freaky, but you can't be hurt. Just see it as a transition between waking and dreaming. It really can't last that long.

I find it fascinating rather than frightening now that I've done research about it. I suggest you do the same so you have a better understanding of what's happening to you biologically during Sleep Paralysis. (p.s. Listen to the dredg song "Scissor Lock", it's about sleep paralysis)
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.

It looks scary but also pretty awsome to experience it.
Cause (if im right ) you can feel your body going from sleeping to awake
and i had 2 lucid dreams but i never feeled that i was sleep paralysd..
