I think that what you've done is started to believe the "I can only fly from my window" and that is influencing the dream. |

Hello. I am new to this site. I wanted to ask for help with flying during lucid dreams. Once I realize that I am dreaming, I immediately attempt to fly but I have found that I can only do so from my own bedroom window. So if I am able to return to my bedroom from wherever I am in the dream, I can then fly out my window, but then I discovered that I am not truly flying, but only hovering. The hovering lasted for many lucid dreams until I established a rope that is anchored (somehow) and I can pull myself along to simulate flying, but now I can only fly (by pulling myself along the rope) to the corner of my street. Then the dreams end. I don't understand how I can remain so tethered even after I have reached lucidity and gotten so far. Do you have to learn to fly in a dream? What am I doing wrong? Has this ever happened to anyone else? |

This is a very common problem that can be easily fixed. First, you must believe (and keep in mind) that you can do anything in your dreams. Period. Next, practice flying from other various places, such as your school/workplace roof, your house's roof, from the ground, from a tree, wherever you feel like! Just focus your mind and imagine yourself lifting up. If this doesn't work, you can try flapping your arms, or going into a bullet position and imagine being shot from your starting point. It should eventually come with practice, although for some people it comes naturally. Hopefully you are one of those people. |

I'm assuming you didn't see my post...? |

Thanks Snowboy. Sorry. Just saw your reply. I will try your suggestions. I want to eliminate the rope. |

You need to learn to move yourself with your mind. In my opinion the best way to learn how to do that is to practice with telekinesis. Once you get the feel of moving other objects around, it's then nothing to do the same thing to yourself. You will end up having awesome control that way. After a while it will become so natural to fly that you will be able to do it without hardly giving it a thought. |

Be confident. Your mind thinks you can't do it, because you say so. Maybe, you could make something else in your dream that helps you fly better, like imagine something that helps you fly, and hold it. In my former lucid dream I couldn't fly because I said to myself that statement over and over. Try jumping when you walk once, then jump higher, and then try to fly. |
