Thread: Questions About Shared Dreaming

First I would like to state that I'm not about to begin to attempt such a act that requires a high level of experience in the art of "Lucid Dreaming" but I was thinking whether or not it would be possible to basically go into another's dream (such as a more experienced dreamer going into a noob's dream), and either start transforming it, or help the said person by helping them control their dream.

I also have a few other questions related to "Shared Dreaming" how is this scientifically possible? If you were to be able to connect to another's dream physiologically would you be able to talk to them without giving the illusion of you speaking vocally? By that I mean speaking to them just by thinking, but in real world, and dream world. Which leads to my next question, can you use this method called "Shared Dreaming" to technically invade others dreams by force as example in the thread named "Shared Dreaming - How to find other people when lucid!" you see her literally making a portal into his dream.

That's all for now. I'm sorry if this was a over load of questions.
I just want to find out the reasonings for this.

I'm not super informed on shared experiences (though I'd like to think I may have had one), so I'll let the more seasoned dreamers share a bit more info. But as far as it being scientifically possible...from what I've read there doesn't currently seem to be enough science to either confirm nor deny that it's possible and you'll hear a lot of conjecture from both sides. A rational approach might lead you to think that it's probably not a likely occurrence, but then again the idea that the sun moves around the earth used to be considered very "rational". I myself am waiting to pass judgment until a close friend and I are experienced enough to attempt it together

In terms of science, it's not possible. Shared dreaming goes into the realm of paranormal, we have a forum where people who believe in that can go talk about it.

Beyond Dreaming

Agreed with Ninja, even if it were real, since it has no scientific basis, then nobody can really answer your questions, since their ideas are purely based on their own experiences, and since you aren't going to try, well, put it in the "wait" list, either that or assume it isn't real, your choice.

So, you all are saying that there's no proof that a connection to another's dreams, via one's dreams is possible, but also no proof of being impossible.

I'm starting to think that if one were to be in someone else's dreams, and both be able to recall such dreams it would most likely that they got extremely lucky? Since if two people were to experience the same thing, and be thinking about the same thing, along with thinking about each other. Wouldn't just make sense to eventually have a dream with the basically same thing going on with the other person that experienced it?

In other words, they weren't there just that there was the possibility that they were going to appear in your dreams since you would be actively thinking about them which would eventually make them appear in your dreams at some point.

This is something you could discuss a little further in the beyond dreaming. I personally enjoy many of the articles there.

That possibility is really low though, so there is only so much times you can call it chance, but thats your call and you must base it on your personal experiences.

You could also ask another forum member called WakingNomad. He is pretty experienced with Shared Dreaming and even has a tutorial on it.
