It's perfectly normal in dreams so don't bash yourself about it. The reason Y it's so difficult to be aware it's unreal is the absence of continuous waking memory, most people think it's logic that is absent but actually it's the memory of your waking life. There is the same logic and consciousness in dreams. To recognize and compare what is weird or unreal in a dream you'd need a reference with your waking life but like I said that reference point is absent or limited when we dream so you cannot know what is weird and what isn't it just is. One way to overcome this is to take vit B complex pills like a couple of hours or more before sleep and it does help in linking what you see in the dream with waking memory but it does not always work. You could also try dream reentry where you wake up after a dream but go back to sleep thinking of the previous dream you had and hopefully dream the same dream and because it's short term memory it may make it through the next dream and you can remember you had it as a dream and become suspicious. Another way is to purposely attach a memory of something with an object like a dreamsign, that memory is the benchmark that you are not dreaming so any change about the object may arouse a comparing response to kick in and you become suspicious. An example that worked very well for me is the light bulb check..I make sure when I'm not dreaming the lights are in working condition so when any lights fail I will have to check if it's a dream or not and they have failed in reality and I did the watch check and it happaned during a WBTB while using tha bathroom and the memory of it made it through the next dream and I was lucid because of a faulty bedroom light. |
