The Power of Auto-suggestion (or, how do I make this work?)

Hello, all. This is my first post, and, while I'd prefer not to begin a thread as my first public action, I find my questions to be worthy of it. I am very new to Lucid Dreaming, and while my attempts have failed, I've decided to gather information and try from a new angle.
I have researched into all of the familiar techniques, and after a week of failed WILDs (not getting "in" deep enough, probably due to trying at night), I have settled on a DILD + WBTB technique.
Both methods seem pretty obvious - I simply wake up in 5-6 hours, stay up for a half hour and ponder lucidity, make RCs, etc, and go back to bed. But DILD seems rather unreliable. Is auto-suggestion ("I will dream, I will dream, I will dream"), powerful enough to initiate DILD, or am I simply making shots in the dark? What will make a DILD more likely to work? Am I counting on WBTB to initiate the dream?
      Thank you.

Well to say "I will dream" doesn't help you. You always dream every night, 3 - 5 dreams every night.
      Lucid dream goals:
      1. Get into SP /Check
      2. have a long LD
      3: Fly
4: Have some epic battles with my childhood heroes and villians (DBZ)

You need to question if you are in a dream as often as possible during the day. Not just during the WBTB. The trick is to think about it so often that you will think about it in your dreams. It can take time, but it works. You dream about the things that are most often on your mind. Try to get really excited about Lucid Dreaming. I bet if you won the lottery today, you would be dreaming of it tonight. If you could sleep at all after that lol. The same principal applies to DILDing.

WBTB is good in that it wakes you up a little, and gets your mind focused on the goal to realize you're dreaming. So hopefully after you fall back to sleep, the idea will still be fresh in your thoughts, and you will have a much better chance of attaining Lucidity in your next dream.
