As some background, I was a natural lucid dreamer as a teenager and was able to lucid dream on and off in my early twenties. Now I'm almost 30 and LD's rarely happen.

Last night after reading some posts here, I found a little used notebook and a pen, put them under my pillow and attempted to WILD. This isn't the first time I've tried, but the results, though not lucid, were memorable.

I had several dreams last night of which I can still recall, even though I never actually woke up to write them down. I recall one dream snip in which a friend was training me to run down an open air maze. In the sky was a sort of borealis, like a very mild version of the Norther Lights. I asked my friend about it and he just said "oh, yeah, that's new." Then we raced through a short leg of the maze and that's all I recall (well, I recall other snips, but they are mostly incoherent).

The most interesting recall occurred while I was walking my dog this morning. I remembered, as though it was a real memory, flipping through the notebook that I was going to use as a dream journal. Except, in my memory, I recalled that all the pages were filled with notes. Once I thought about it, I realized this memory was really from a dream I had last night. It seems that I "woke up" to write in the journal, but could not, because there were no blank pages. In real life, only the first couple of pages of the journal have writing in them, since it was just some old notebook that I had around.

So, even though I didn't go lucid, I found the experience enjoyable. Oh, and as far as the WILD went, I had no trouble with Hypnogogic Imagery (I have been watching HI as a means to fall asleep since before I knew what it was called), didn't feel any sort of sleep paralysis, and ended up falling asleep at some point.

best,
-Patrick
