The reality checks are just to do them in real life, often everyday. When you remember lucid dreaming, just look at your hands or pinch your nose or something. And to recognize dream signs, I have heard only to read them out loud or in your head when going to sleep. Maybe combine the two, do reality checks and think of your dream signs when you think of lucid dreaming. Easy reminders is to do it when you do other chores, like check your mail, enter a building, and so on.

You already passed the first step by recognizing 2 of your dream signs (keep looking for more). You also might want to explore why these signs keep coming up in your dreams. There is almost always some kind of significance. Now you have to get in the habit of doing a reality check whenever you see or hear about rain and babies. Reality checks can be what ever you want. I look at my hands and take a mental note of my surroundings.

Hey man...I've been working on lucid dreaming for almost two weeks and just now got my first successful reality check lucid induction. Honestly, its not one thing thats going to get the job done for you. Its going to be proper execution of different techniques to get it to click. I have been having recurring dreams about being in large hotels. Last night, I dreamed I was walking through an empty hotel lobby. It seemed weird, and I had this impulse to do a reality check. I tried pushing my finger through my palm and it started going through it like a wad of silly putty or something. Doing that RC made me become lucid for the first time. I let the excitement of it wake me up, but it feels so great to get that first one.

So basically, you just need to pick a few things and stick to them. I read lucid guides when I can throughout the day, even if I've already read them before. Just keep putting the idea into your mind. I also have notes in my room with "Am I dreaming?" on it so I always see it throughout the day. And before I go to bed I relax to a subliminal messages track I found on this forum. It has voices saying "this is a dream" and "do a reality check" on it. Reading lucid guides > notes on the wall > subliminal message meditation/relaxation period before bed. This worked for me...it takes time. Don't expect anything to work overnight, just always keep thinking about it and it will come.

It was kind of an overwhelming exciting feeling for me...Its hard to describe. Just a feeling of success for finally doing. Some people say they feel freaked out or scared, but I was just happy and excited.

      exciting, exotic, powerful, fun
The first time you become lucid you should just concentrate on exploring the dream environment and staying in it.

The first dream I became lucid is one of my favorites. It brought pure freedom and excitement of discovery. For me, it was mind-blowing.
