      Advice needed

      Hello!
This is my first post on Dreamviews.com! I joined this site to take part in a lucid dreaming community so I can be more involved with lucid dreaming and get some advice. I have been trying to lucid dream for about a week now, but I am yet to see success. I have been doing various reality checks throughout the day and I even downloaded some binaural beats and isochronic tones. I have been waking up after 5 hours of sleep for the past 3 days for the wild method but I have been unsuccessful because I cannot seem to stay focused on lucid dreaming. I actually tried the wild method twice before sleeping also. These attempts were also unsuccessful, one of the two attempts I laid still for a whopping 2 hours with no hypnagogic imagery or vibrations.

Also, while trying to keep a dream journal. I noticed my dream recall was absolutely horrible. Most nights I can remember one very small fragment of a dream and thats it. I ordered some vitamin b-6 to help with that but it hasn't arrived yet.

Sorry for the long post. Does anybody have any advice?

I've been researching and actively exploring the many layers of the subconscious for over 20 years and lucid dreaming does not happen every time, but the best method of encouraging it involves much relaxation, physical comfort and the ability to blank/purge your mind of thoughts ( even subconscious thoughts and trust me you have them even though you are unaware of them ) the daily grind or accumulation of "crap" ( problems, wish lists, stress, things to do, sexual desire, depression, frustrations, etc, etc, etc ) and also the ability to fall asleep slowly and in a controlled manner.

      This takes practice to do.

I suggest practicing deep relaxation techniques, blanking your mind to begin setting up your mind for influence free lucid dreaming ( as usually any sort of thought will take you to that when you first start to dream, I however use this method for specific dreaming e.g. If I want to dream about climbing a mountain I will lightly invision myself doing that while falling asleep thus it will translate into my dreams and carry on from there where my immagination will take over thus I will be climbing a mountain in my dream/s )

Falling asleep slowly helps to control lucid dream state and also helps to remain conscious in your subconscious lucid dream thus allowing you to control your dream and do whatever you desire which is the really cool part.

      so practice practice practice !

You would be surprised what you can do if you actively persue diving deeper and deeper into your subconscious mind and the many many layers of it, but it can also be very scary and disorienting at times and take some getting use to so just a FYI

P.S. ditch all the theta wave, beta this and w.i.l.d thaT crap, it's just that , and a total mis guide. With those methods you are trying to "force" a sleep state hence why they don't work. You want to set up your mind to encourage and invite a sleep state not try to force it.

Yeah, you shouldn't really focus on Lucid dreaming too much. That might sound odd, but you should just act as if you know you're going to have a lucid dream, and you know your method will work, and the methods that KiloAlpha4 suggested are good, you need to be relaxes in order for it to work. It shouldn't be taking you 2 hours. But it's only been a week, it takes some people a lot longer. Continue to look though the guides on this site and you'll get there eventually.

Instead of using the WILD method use MILD after waking up after 5 hours. Basically MILD is just telling yourself "Tonight when I am dreaming, I will realize that I am dreaming" until you fall asleep. If you do this in the middle of the night, the message should carry over to your dream, thus letting you become lucid. I don't recomend using the WILD method because it is harder to acheive an is for more advanced lucid dreamers.

Alright thanks everyone for the info. I was under the impression that for beginners, WILDing would have the fastest result. I guess it depends on who you are and how well you can relax though. I decided to set an alarm for 5 hours after I fall asleep every night because it seems this is the only way I can remember anything from my dreams (besides some small fragments). And I'll also try the MILD tomorrow morning. Thanks.
