Why didn't I become lucid after dreaming this?

I was in my home as normal (in the dream) and I do the digital watch reality check. I notice that the time does change. I then say (without any feeling of control whatsoever) "This is all a dream. Everything I am seeing is being controlled by my mind." This happened to me three times already and I didn't really feel any sense of control. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

The fact that you managed to say that to yourself means that you're definitely already becoming lucid, so well done for that.
When you say you didn't feel any sense of control, to what extent is this? If you're able to control your movement then I'd recommend "grounding" yourself. This is where you use all of your 5 senses in the dream to really get a feel for the environment and make it all more real.
