      Hi there

Recently I have just had my first LD where I was able to control some of my surroundings. I have been interested in LDing for the last, oh, about three years now (thanks to the movie Waking Life), with varied success. I have had a handful of dreams where I realized I was dreaming, but either soon woke up or had no success in dream control. My first LD I was in a car with three of my friends, I simply realized i was dreaming, told my friends I was dreaming, and they convinced me I was not. lol.

However, recently I have been training myself to ask on a regular basis if I am dreaming. No real method but to just look around and see if stuff makes sense. About a week or so ago, It turned out that one of the times I asked myself this question I was dreaming. I was in some sort of pool hall/mining site. I thought this can't be right and I realized I was dreaming. While in the pool hall I wanted to try and control my dream. Being a Star Wars fan I began with trying to lift a pool cue via the force. I struggled at the beginning but eventually had moderate success. My best attempt was lifting a pool cue, moving it to a table about 15 ft away and attempting to make, i believe it was the one ball. I got the cue to the table but before I could make the shot Someone walked in front of me and I got distracted. After this I thought it would be cool to turn one of the pool cues into a light saber. I was unsuccessful after a few attempts, though I did swing the pool cue into another one and i cut it in half like a light sabe, lol. I eventually woke up and was happy with the progress, but have been discouraged with the lack of any LD since.

Anyway, I am interested in hearing other peoples tips on how to train for lucid dreams, as well as wanted to share my little success story.

It's good that you've been questioning reality while awake, but you should also couple that with a reality check. In the dream as well, you want to reality check after questioning the dream, that way you remove all doubt.

Another way people train for LDs is to keep a dream journal, it improves your dream recall and helps identify dream signs (things that can alert you that you're dreaming). Right now you're using a method called DILD (Dream Initiated LD). There are other techniques that you might want to try as well, they are listed in the tutorial section (linked below).

      Also, welcome to the forum

Welcome to DreamViews! That was a pretty cool LD you had there. Raph gave some good advice. There was definitely a lot of good to take from that dream. You were able to use telekinesis with the pool cue and also gave the cue some light saber properties. To enhance this control (actual have the cue turn into a light saber) you will simply need to practice. Once you do something in a LD for the first time, from then on you know you can do it. That is more than half the battle. Try not to get discouraged and try to fall asleep each night expecting to succeed. If you don't, just act as if it were a fluke and look forward to your next opportunity. Stay positive and good luck to you!

Welcome! Stay positive and keep on trying. The more lucids you get, the easier it gets. As for control, it's just like KingYoshi says, once you've done something, you can do it again. In time you will be able to lift huge things with "the force", aslong as you believe you can. When you want to change something, or summon something, I suggest you look away or do some kind of magic-related gesture. This will increase your chances of it happening tenfold! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, good luck!
