Smile Just made an account, and I have a few questions on SP!

Hey! So basically I found out about LDing about 2 days ago, when I was reading an article on another website. Since reading that article I have been fascinated that something so amazing can actually exist and I have since spent most of my time reading up and looking into LDing. (My friends don't share similar interest to me, I've no idea why.) It also cleared up a lucid dream a had as a child, where I was being chased by a huge slug and upon realising that I was dreaming, I began shouting wake up until I was awake. I obviously had no idea what happened at the time.

Before I started a dream journal, it was a very rare occasion for me to remember my dreams. To my surprise, on both nights I have gone to sleep repeating a mantra to myself, I have woken up multiple times and have been able to remember my dreams, so that's looking great.

However, I have been reading about sleep paralysis and I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that the idea of it terrifies me really badly. I know and understand that it is all in my head, but I know that if I ever went through the experience of it then I would start panicking and I would forget it's not real and totally freak out.

So my questions to the more experienced dreamers on here are, do you still experience SP if you are DILDing? Do you hallucinate horrific things most times you get SP? And what are the best ways to get out of SP if you are in it?

Apologies for a bombardment of questions on my first post, but I know that I will stick to LDing for a long time and want to make sure I'm prepared for everything that can happen.

      Thanks in advance!

      1) You experience SP every time you sleep, the only difference with a WILD is that you are conscious for it. In a DILD, you become lucid while in the dream, so you already went through the sensations of entering SP. In the dream you will only be aware of your dream body, so the answer to your question is no.

      2) It varies a lot from person to person. Some common things that people experience are vibrations of various body parts, a buzzing sound, flashes of light, pain in some areas of the body, a sensation of falling or floating, someone calling your name, rapid heart rate, and the feeling of a lead blanket being pulled over you.

Sound scary? Well it shouldn't be, they're all hallucinations so you shouldn't pay much attention to them. Realize that your body goes through this every night, and nothing is going to harm you. It's important to stay calm and relaxed through this process, you'll soon enough be in a dream if you just focus on the HI.

      3) SP occurs out of REM sleep, so if you are lucid then you can try waking yourself up by rapidly blinking in the dream, or use whatever method you want.
