New here, almost got a WILD. ALSO : Improving dream recall?

I attempted WILD'ing for the 4th time last night with some stuff I learned here recently and it was a big help. It took me a while, but that was prob. due to inexperience and my lack of also doing it with wbtb. I know for a fact I got into Sleep Par. , But I didnt go into HH and I had no dream to slip into. I lost the feeling of Sleep Paralysis after a few minutes, and got a bit cold. I opened my eyes, got out of bed and reality checked.
      Can anyone help me?

Welcome to DreamViews! Half the battle is getting into SP, then comes the transition. It is much harder to achieve WILD when not using WBTB or day time naps. WILDing upon first going to sleep can be frustrating, even if you get into SP, the transition can be difficult. I strongly suggest trying to WILD during day time naps if you don't want to do WBTB (generally 1 to 8 hours after waking in the morning). It sounds to me like you did pretty well for only your 4th try. Once you get into SP, stay as relaxed and calm as possible. Just observe the darkness and soon HH/HI will begin to come in to play. Just casually observe any hallucinations as if they were a semi-interesting movie. Allow your body to fall deeper and deeper into relaxation. WILD takes experience and practice, just keep at it. Good luck to you and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I figured out today that what I was in wasn't SP. I was just really numb and relaxed from my breathing exercise
Any other suggestion from here? Still trying to improve my dream recall for DILD's and stuff...

Once you get into that deep relaxation state, the only thing left to do is fall asleep. Make sure you aren't so focused on the WILD process that you keep yourself from falling asleep. Just relax and gaze out into the darkness of your closed eyes. Allow yourself to get lost/swallowed up by it. If you want quick success with dream recall, you can always set alarms throughout the night. Usually after 4 hours of sleep, then 2 hours later, then 1 hour increments for the rest of your sleep period. At each alarm, wake up and write down your dreams immediately. This also will refresh your mind during each "wake up" with the goal of lucidity. This alone can help spark a DILD. You can also try drinking some apple juice before bed (it can help with vividness/recall). Peanut butter works pretty decent as well.

See .y main problem is just that. Sleep. I've tried reverse blinking and it doesn't do it for me. I also tried binaural beats for a nap this afternoon and I failed.... I just fell asleep regularly..

Well, if you are falling asleep regularly, it just means you aren't quite keeping your mind active enough. I always just look around into the darkness and try to pick up shapes, images, anything. Just let your mind wonder and watch as you thoughts turn to mental images, and then to blurry visions in the darkness of your closed eyes, and eventually to full fledged HI/HH. Stay relaxed and fall asleep as you are watching the darkness. If you can't fall asleep, you simply aren't tired enough. If you want to perform nap WILDs, shave an hour or more off your nightly sleep and it will make that nap much easier.

Alright, thanks! I'm improving my dream recall right now primarily. I think I'm more interested in DILD's than WILD's, but this has helped alot. I'll get back with you next time I attempt to WILD.

Yeah, DILDs are where you are going to get the majority of your LDs. Its always good to practice/train for DILDs at all times...even when/if you start working with WILD or any other method. Good luck to you and keep me updated. If any questions pop up, you can ask them in the forums or pm me if you'd prefer.

Using WBTB helps a lot. It's the only way I have achieved one.

Many members on this forum have problems with transiting.

I suggest using DEILD (a form of WILD) and then once you get used to the transition you Should move to WILD.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I have the opposite problem, I can't go to sleep. I can get near to SP but then I either get excited or scared then it fades away..

Maybe I just need to practise and get used to it

You should try acquiring an item in your Waking hours that you can focus on and bring into the dream world, Mine is a digital watch

      REAL first Wild.

So I had my first legitimate wild this morning ( I changed my mind, coming to the conclusion that the first 'wild' that I had was just a really fuzzy deild.) So I did it! HH and HI was a bit weird. I felt like I was floating off and sliding off my mattress. I saw smileys spinning in a circle and heard babies laughing. The dream itself was super fun though.
But I had these really odd 'disturbances'. These wierd vortex-ish things that were colored and shot out of the ground at aabout 3 second intervals. They were annoying. I didn't have to RC, because when I woke up and sat up in my bed, the room was tilted sideways...
But yeah. First WILD, First extremely vivid lucid. Thanks a billion Yoshi and ev'ryone else

No problem at all. I'm always glad to help. Congrats on completing the WILD and having a nice, vivid LD! I almost always slide around the room and float around when I'm transitioning. I bet the laughing babies and spinning smileys was pretty trippy . Sounds like an awesome experience. Again, congrats!
