Been lucid dreaming for years! Did not know what it was called...

      Hello everyone!

I have been lucid dreaming for years and dream-controlling for even longer.

Now the reason that I am posting is to discuss a dream that I am curious and confused about:

Roughly three weeks ago I was dreaming about a bunch of people that I knew. We were all in a run-down mansion searching for a treasure that was rumored to be there. Nothing "strange" yet. Eventually, I realized that the people in my dream were people that I knew in elementary school and really don't think of much. I then realized that I was in a dream.

Now, this is were things get weird. I realized that this dream was actually a direct continuation of a dream that I dreamt 20 years ago. My mind started to remember the old dream while dreaming this new one. The old dream featured these people in ages that would have been appropriate for the time, and the new dream had these people aged appropriately for now!

Is it common enough for a dream to be a continuation of one from years ago?

      Welcome Ayryyn!

I've been a lucid dreamer for quite a while before I knew there was a name for it, too

That this dream of yours seems to be the continuation of one you've had so many years ago is really interesting and I also think it's rather rare. I never had dreams (with that much time in between) that were continuing, but quite some reoccuring dreams.
It's really uncommon your brain made this connection if that old dream had been all out of your mind for years. But then, there also is the possibility that that old dream was a reoccuring one that you didn't recall all the times it reoccured. Not even people that are really good at recalling their dreams recall all of them.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the curiosity of that continuing dream

I experience continued dreams very often, in fact I have had three continued dreams yesterday and two continued dreams today~ I haven't had the time to write them on the dream journal yet.
However, I experience them during the same night and rarely I have ever continued a dream from months/years ago.

      Welcome, anyways!

I get this feeling sometimes. I never know if I can trust it or not. Maybe you did continue a dream from a long time ago, or maybe the memory of the old dream was just a part of the new dream. Either way, it is a cool feeling.

This dream reminds me of the scene in Tom Sawyer when they steal the treasure from the abandoned house. That part always scared me. Are Tom Sawyer references not cool anymore? Not since 1880?
