      Unhappy SP and OBE'S help

I've been reading DV for about a month now and decided it's time to register and post.

My problem is being unable to achieve SP even after 30-40 some odd attempts. I've tried a few different methods of achieving SP with no result.
My main method starts with turning off my lights about 20 minutes prior to lying down to rest my eyes. I stretch and do tension release techniques for about 5-10 minutes prior, as well. Once I'm ready, I jump into bed and just lay in whatever position is most comfortable at the time and relax for about 5-10 minutes then I switch to lying on my back with my arms at my side and begin focusing on breathing and relaxing different muscle groups. Sometimes I listen to B beats and sometimes not. While I'm lying there I try to let my mind wonder and without moving any part of my body. While listening to B beats I can last indefinitely without falling asleep and without, usually about an hour. They seem to make no difference in inducing SP I use them to keep me awake.

In conclusion, it seems no matter how long I lay, SP never comes. Just last night I was awake and not moving for 2+ hours. It seems like I get close, like my limbs feel very heavy but I'm sitting on the threshold of body awake-body asleep.

Any ideas, advice, or input for a first time poster?

Your technique is fine but I think the timing is your issue. You should attempt WILD/OBE after at least 4 hours of sleep. After 6 hours is best in my experience. It's best if you can wake up naturally after a dream at around this time, but using an alarm is fine too.

The reason is that the phenomenon of sleep paralysis is related to REM sleep. The body isn't prepared for REM sleep when you first go to sleep. After several 90 minute cycles, REM periods take a large share of each cycle and the body can more readily enter sleep paralysis, even directly from waking.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

I agree with sisyphus. Try the same thing after a WBTB, or during a nap where you know you are close to REM.

      This worked for me :
I have my eyes closed, lying on my back (most comfortable position for me),meditating to clear my mind (I want to be focused and opening my crown chakra),my right arm lays over my stomach (from the right to left side),I'm focusly breathing (as I'm breathing I feel my arm how it goes 'up' and 'down'),take some time doing this-think about what would you do in the dreams (for exapmple reality check etc.) or visualize some images,I feel then how my arm is 'paralysed' (I use really slight energy to move my finger (of the right arm) to check in which state is my body),don't be afraid as you don't want to break the SP (if you are, then your heart chakra is gonna close and your mind would focus on your heartbeats-you got the feeling to break out of the SP,just stay calmed and focused) and in the end when I feel I'm ready to enter a dream I just fall asleep.
It helped me become lucid,I hope it does for you too.

when you say 'nap' what do you mean? like...if i were to wake up normally at 7am, what would be the best time to nap and attempt this?

like now, for instance? its been 6 hours since I woke up and tbh a nap sounds pretty good atm.
