      dream guides?

so ive been exploring the site for a while and i keep noticing people mentioning their dream guides. like they become lucid and immediately start looking for them or theyre already hanging out with this dream guide. just wondering what a dream guide actually is. is it just some person you dream up to help you or is it some type of spiritual guide?

Hi and welcome to DV! A Dream Guide is a Dream Character, with that little "extra". They are usually more intelligent and helpful. They can give you good advice in your dreams and well, guide you. A Spirit Guide is another matter. It's supposed to be a spirit entity which helps you and guides you in the other worlds. It's more beyond dreaming really.

A Dream Guide is real though if you just believe in it, so try it out if you feel like it

A dream guide is...well pretty much what matte said. A DC who will help you with LDing. I haven't met mine yet, but I know I can do it with my next lucid.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Dream Guides are there for dreamers if they want to interact with them, or need help navigating the dream. You don't necessarily need one, though. I found my dream guide a few years back and haven't interacted with them since.

Another thing about Dream Guides that hasn't been mentioned yet is that many people believe they're a part of the dreamer's "subconscious". You could ask them a question and they'd reply intellectually and be knowledgeable about it... Sometimes more knowledgeable than the dreamer! You may have forgotten where you put your shoes the night before, for instance, and so you ask your dream guide (DG) where they are. They could reply with the right location, because although you consciously couldn't remember where you put them, you subconsciously knew.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
