Question Dream Recall & Dream Control Question/

I'm just wondering, how long does it usually take for Dream Recall to improve to a point where you're remembering 9-10 dreams a night.

I'm asking because I had another LD last night, bringing my LD count up to 8 right now, the issue is my dreams are so fragmented and broken that its hard to enjoy them after awaking, I've heard that all dreams are extremely vivid but we just don't remember them, seems like the issue here. So how long has it taken some of you guys to really notice the effects of a Dream Journal?

My second question is in regard to Dream Control, last night I had a really successful level of Dream Control, I just kept repeating to stay calm after becoming lucid, however I performed a Nose-Plug RC without actually considering its effect (not paying attention to whether it worked or not) but I did remember to keep in mind that an RC is only to enhance the dream and not to worry about waking up. Still the dream fragmented to a point where I skipped to another location and had lost lucidity, it seems I forgot to keep control and only remembered of my failure when I work up.

So how can I approve dream control in regard to what I've said?

      Thanks.

It's not the point that you enjoy when you wake up, it's enjoying while you are dreaming

"What if you slept, and what if in your sleep you dreamed you went to heaven and there
you plucked a strange and beautiful flower, and what if when you awoke you had the flower in your hand? Ah,
      what then?"

Thanks for the reply. My wording I think was pretty poor, the problem is my dreams are incredibly fragmented, so even if they were enjoyable the fact they're so disorientating and keep skipping detracts from my ability to have fun in them, either afterwards or while in the dream.

I really want to know how long it takes for the effects of a Dream Journal to be apparent, and also like I said how to improve on my control specifically.

      welcome!

9-10 dreams a night is a lot to ask for IMO.

the effects of your DJ will be directly related to how much effort you put into it and your natural recall. do you make brief notes or do you do your best to recall specific details, thoughts, and emotions? there are all sorts of other factors like moving when you wake up vs staying still and in the same position, and how your memory is trained in general. also, it will fluctuate over time.

just make it part of your daily routine and focus on awareness / memory and / or other techniques and things will improve!

A technique I used when I was younger to kind of get back to a more pleasant dream was that I "jumped" to it....I would find myself back to that particular dream although I have never successfully gotten back to the "original" dream, I would jump back to that dream to find some variation in it. To do this I would ignore everything that was coming at me, whether it be raining bullets or whatnot. Just shut out the current dream and focus on the setting you want to get to.
