      Hi, I'm new here.

      Hi!
I'm Yorshie and I've always been interested in dreaming since I was about 6. Of course, then, I had no idea what lucid dreaming was or anything, but a fair few years ago I discovered lucid dreaming.

I've been doing all sorts of things to improve my dream recall such as keeping a dream diary and I've also tried multiple methods of trying to get lucid dreams, but I haven't really seen a big improvement even though I've been doing this for a few years now.
The last vivid dream I had was about a month and a half ago - and even then, that one wasn't lucid, it just seemed really real.

Got any tips? I'd love to hear your input on this.

One final thing: a question. It's some strange feeling that I get when I'm falling asleep sometimes - often when I wake up, decide it's too early to get up, and go back to sleep again.
I close my eyes and very quickly, I feel myself going back to sleep and entering the 'dreamworld', it's kind of like a pulse or something going through my body and making me go to sleep very quickly.
But there's a strange feeling in my ears (like when you yawn on an aeroplane - the feeling you get when pressure is being equalized in your ears) for some reason, and it just happens so suddenly and quickly, like it's being sped up. I can stop it if I want to, as it's scary sometimes, but if I let it happen for too long, I get sleep-paralyzed and I'm forced to go to sleep properly.
Has anyone had that sensation before? What is it?

Hi and welcome to DV! Are you trying to recall every little detail about the dreams you had when you wake up in the morning? Lie completely still and wait for the dreams to come. You can also try using mantras, "I will remember my dreams" is a common one to make you recall more.

Sounds like you're entering SP and has hallucinations. If you stay conscious you can do a DEILD (Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream), it's a short version of WILD.

Read up on the different techniques here: DV Tutorials - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

I think what you are referring to is sleep paralysis. From what I was told it is a natural effect your body has to ensure you are not physically acting out your dreams as you sleep. Perfectly normal.

I have been saying this on a lot of threads but seeing as a lot of people keep asking the same question I figure I won't sound too much like a broken record.....
Here is how I first achieved Lucid Dreaming...I was a very young girl, about 6ish I can't quite remember, but anyways I always knew that whatever I thought within a dream would immediately come true, and most of those instances back then I didn't know I was dreaming so it was kind of odd to think that reality worked this way. So when I did this, of course being a young girl, I would think of terrifying things that could happen to me (i.e. zombies, monsters chasing me, being trapped in my own home.) and they would manifest right after I thought about that particular thing. I would have nightmares constantly because all I could ever think of was "monster" and boom, monster. Well how I figured out how to control this ability was to use that fear I felt for a kind of literal "fight or flight" response. Soon I went from thinking "monster attacking me" to "monster attacking me and a katana to fight said monster." or "monster attacking me and oh look, I can fly now to get away." Since then and with much experimentation I no longer have nightmares of monsters that I make, now I control the monsters and have unlimited power. I think one of my more favorite dreams I have had recently is fighting Chathulu via DBZ style powers. To recap I basically scared the living crap out of myself on purpose to force my mind to work for me. I have yet to come across people who have achieved lucid dreaming through this method and I would advise caution because I've found some great terrors inside my own head. Hope that helps.

Hi Yorshie, i have only been on this site for a short while but what brought me here were for those exact reasons...i would go to sleep and wake in the night, my eyes would be very very tired and i would get this "swooshing" sound in my ears and at the same time i would feel a throbbing in my head, I have had some bloody awfull experiences with that, it used to frighten me to death, but i looked on the net and realised i was going into SP and WILD'ing..anyway since i have found out what it is i now am able to controll my experiences with it, when i hear the noise and feel the throbbing i think to myself "i am lucid dreaming" ((repeating this untill i am lucid)) then i feel a spinning sensation or a falling sensation, i keep myself calm ((as hard as it is)) and enter the dream state..sometimes in a faulse awakening , sometimes in a dream, but look at it this way, we who have this without trying are purley gifted, remember that and instead of fighting it, use it as a great tool to enter the lucid dream land lol, good luck chick, message me anytime if you wanna chat

      Hey, welcome to DV. =D

Puffin's Beginner's Guide To Lucid Dreaming is a great place to start learning about lucid dreams. You should also browse the Tutorial section when you get the chance, it's full of information, tips, and in-depth guides. On top of that, you can also visit the DV Academy for further guidance - the DVA Professors will teach you everything you'll ever need to know about lucid dreaming.

You might also want to get into the habit of performing reality checks (maybe two or three) throughout your day, you'll eventually start doing them in dreams and become lucid. I usually count my fingers but feel free to look up other methods and see which works best for you. I'd also recommend keeping a dream journal; regularly recording your dreams is a great way to improve to improve recall and you'll be able to notice common themes and patterns which can further help you attain lucidity.

We also have an off-topic section as well where you can discuss anything from books, movies, tv shows, philosophy, current events, etc so be sure to visit that part of the forum as well. If you ever get bored or need to kill time, visit Senseless Banter. It's full of nonsensical threads like forum games and the SB frequenter's are a friendly bunch so feel free to drop in sometime. We also have an IRC Chat Server which can be found near the top of the forum index. 'tis lulz.

Also, you're always welcome to PM either no-Name or I if you'd like to see pictures of our tits.
