      Hypnagogic(?)

What is the hypnagogic state and how do you use it?
I heard it was something that you could use to fall asleep consciously. Am I right? How do you use it??????

I think you are confused. When you're about to fall asleep, you usually lose consciousness before going into Sleep Paralysis. If you manage to remain conscious when your body enters Sleep Paralysis (sometimes before aswell) you will start seeing images. They are the beginning of a dream basicly.

If you keep on staying still and remain conscious, you will end up in a dream and you've just used the WILD technique.

Okay... then what is HILD. it doesn't tell you much about it in the DV dictionary.

Hypnagogic State is just a fancy word for the transitional state between waking and sleeping. It can be used to sum up all of the wackiness that happens as you are falling asleep, but not quite asleep. When most people talk about "Sleep Paralysis," they are really talking about hypnagogia. Sleep Paralysis is not the proper term, but it is more descriptive and recognizable to most people.
