      Hi guys - Introduction

Hey guys, I'm new here and so far loving the forum. I got into lucid dreaming in early 2010 but for some reason stopped but two days ago i started back and I've been researching it a lot and learning about the different techniques. I haven't had a lucid dream yet, well i have in the past realized i was dreaming but i didn't do anything like flying. I've tried doing a WILD but it didn't work, although i did feel like i was floating at one point but it didn't trigger a lucid dream. Tonight when i go to bed I'm going to be listening to Really's "The ultimate lucid induction" which sounds really good. Hopefully it'll trigger my first real lucid dream like it has for other members.

Right now the first thing i want to do in a lucid dream is fly but i have tons of other things i can't wait to try like transforming into a cat and playing with pokemon.

Hi Mismagius (awesome username!), welcome to the Dreamviews forum!

If you haven't yet, be sure to have a look at the DV Wiki; it's full of tutorials and information on the different induction techniques you can use to attain your first LD. Lucid dreams are all about awareness, so along with any audio tracks, reality checks, and other induction methods you want to use, be sure to really focus on what's going on around you. Really question if you could be dreaming, since both dreams and waking life feel realistic. We don't question the legitimacy of dreams while we're in them, so if you start questioning things in waking life, this awareness will transfer into your dreams.

I'd recommend MILD, too; it's pretty simple to use and can yield great results if you set your mind on having a lucid dream. MILD works as a type of placebo effect, where you voice your intentions of becoming lucid, whether it be through writing, thinking, or saying a phrase over and over again. The wording of the phrase itself doesn't matter as much as the actual mindset you have, though (being confident that you'll succeed in achieving lucidity is important for, and works with, any technique along with MILD though - think of it as a universal supplement for lucid dreams!).

For WILDing, I'd recommend Jeff's free-falling WILD technique. It's a relatively easy way to WILD, although it can take some practice to get right, without falling asleep - it involves the person purposefully creating illogical thoughts (which are common right before you fall unconscious), speeding up the wait for sleep paralysis.

Dream control is probably the coolest aspect of LDing, since you can do anything you want. From my own experiences, visualizing what you want to happen is extremely helpful, as is being fully confident in your ability to control the dream. You "know" something will happen. Imagining the visuals, auditory, tactile, and other sensations that come with the type of dream control you're using will also help you greatly.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Hi! Welcome! This forum is really great and has a big helpful community. Not every method works for everyone. You have to find what works for you, but keep it up! You will have a lucid dream!

Welcome to DV, Mismagius. Technically, what you experienced was a lucid dream. As long as you realize you're dreaming, it counts so... congratulations. =D

      Obligatory copy-and-pasted rundown:

You should also browse the Tutorial section when you get the chance, it's full of information, tips, and in-depth guides. On top of that, you can also visit the DV Academy for further guidance - the DVA Professors will teach you everything you'll ever need to know about lucid dreaming.

You might also want to get into the habit of performing reality checks (maybe two or three) throughout your day, you'll eventually start doing them in dreams and become lucid. I usually count my fingers but feel free to look up other methods and see which works best for you. I'd also recommend keeping a dream journal; regularly recording your dreams is a great way to improve to improve recall and you'll be able to notice common themes and patterns which can further help you attain lucidity.

We also have an off-topic section as well where you can discuss anything from books, movies, tv shows, philosophy, current events, etc so be sure to visit that part of the forum as well. If you ever get bored or need to kill time, visit Senseless Banter. It's full of nonsensical threads like forum games and the SB frequenter's are a friendly bunch so feel free to drop in sometime. We also have an IRC Chat Server which can be found near the top of the forum index. 'tis lulz.

      Yeah, no problem!

I've bought and played every generation of pokemon game since red, blue and yellow first came out. I still have an official guide for pokemon yellow somewhere around here...

I'm a fan of the first 2 seasons and I kind fo enjoyed the third but I stopped watching after that. I think i have a copy of Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Stadium 2 lying around somewhere. I sold my N64 and my Gameboy a long time ago but I'm pretty sure I kept those two games because I had enjoyed them so much as a kid and didn't feel like parting with them.

glad you enjoy it here, it's quite the lovely, dandy place!
Puffin pretty much pwned us all and said everything to be said :0 gotta love Puffin!

just keep up with the good work try multiple techniques and see what works best for you, because certain techniques may work for you, that don't work for others, and vice versa. Dream Journal, RCs, patience, determination, MILD and WBTB, good way to get the first lucid dream.

if you have any questions, feel freeeeee to ask~
