New to LD. Reality checks issue!!!

      First of all, hi everyone
I'm new to LD, I'm a psychology student and just finished reading Dr Stephen LaBerge's book and publications. Very excited to try LD.
I have had many (5-10 per week) very vivid dreams and I'm sure most of them could turn into LD.
I have a problem doing reality checks because anything that happens my mind just justifies it in the most random ways! And that's where I need your help. Any tricks of trade that you could share to program my mind with the question "Am I dreaming?" ?
Last night for example I tried to induce a LD. I had 4 dreams which i recalled right after waking up and wrote them down. One of them was playing poker with my friends and some most random people I've never seen in my life on the floor in next to the bathroom and i locked my GF outside on the tarrace like an animal because she was annoying me(lol?) . As ridiculus as it may sound, my mind justified it somehow and I did not ask myself if it was a dream...
      Many thanks for your help

Hello and welcome to Dreamviews! There are no tricks to "program" yourself to do RC's regurally. You must just do them often enough and soon it will become a habit.

What you described was the main problem everyone has. If it wasn't like that, then everyone would be LD'ing every night. You need to build up a habit of doing R.C.s, and then wait for yourself to suddenly do one in a dream, and recognize it. It's harder than it sounds, but certainly do-able.

Just have a look around the site, there are loads of things you can try. Make sure you try every one of them. I did, and it's only when I dug deeper and tried a hidden technique that I got my first LD.

My technique is writing "RC" on my hand. There are many different methods, Such as performing an RC as soon as you enter a new room.
Do it often enough, Problem solved. Recently I've been just observing the world around me more thoroughly, noticing anything unusal and performing a RC. But then, You don't even need to do that.

Don't worry, You can do it.

Yeah, the thing you need to keep in your head above all is that this stuff is simple. It's just how it's put across that makes it seem hard. It's not, once you have an LD, you see how simple it is and how much stress can affect your results.

      Just keep positive.

Just learn to catch yourself fast when you day dream. That way, you recognize when your brain is drifting away, and BOOM, LD.

You're right, that should do the trick. It's extremely hard to stay focused in waking life, dont even want to mention a dream!
Will have to overcome the day dreaming.. especially when driving the car! it's like not me but my subconscious driving hah!
