My favourite Neil Gaiman novel is actually the Graveyard Book. It's a kids' book, and I really like how concise it is compared to his other books. I find he goes off on random tangents in a lot of stories, but he had to stick very closely to one storyline in this one.

If you decide to check out Sandman, IMO it's easiest to read one of the spinoffs first, as they're a lot less intimidating. I haven't read anywhere near the entire Sandman series, but Lucifer is 10 short books and a lot easier to get ahold of. (Also where I got the "Samael" inspiration from.) It's very, very dark in a lot of places, but a great story.

I'm glad the sig helped you find an author you like! Haha, I don't really blame him for any particular dream, but I was reading a lot of Sandman and such at the time, so it was definitely an influence.

Although to be honest, a lot of the dialogue I write in my dream journal is approximate. Dialogue is a way to quickly get across a lot of information without spending a bunch of time on description, so it works pretty well for DJs even if it isn't exact.

What are you reading these days, btw?

A quote from one of my first dreams that I posted on the site. Looks like it was "Voices trying to limit your dream control," where I tried to get to the moon. Good times!

I'm in a subway tunnel, It could be Central Station. I'm with a bunch of other people in the middle of a sea of people, playing my guitar. We're apparently putting on a show. Things are going well, we've got a small crowd starting to form around us. A woman dancing closer to me catches my eye and I notice a big bald muscular guy shove her and step in front of her. I point at him and he just takes off. I wink at the woman and continue playing. Damn I'm smooth.

We're playing another gig, in this crazy looking house. There are hanging plants hanging from the ceiling, which is made of glass, and the floor underneath us is also glass, showing a coral reef beneath us. We're playing when suddenly I forget how to play the next song completely, and take the guitar strap off my shoulder and hand my grey guitar to my bandmate who is also a guitarist and ask her to cover for me. The rest of the band is still playing, and I raise my eyebrows quickly and make the praying sign with my hands then smile. Before we get to continue the house seems to drop away, and somehow I know we're drifting in the ocean. I walk outside and there are people in the water, holding onto some beams connected to the house. I walk across one and see someone I know in waking life. She looks up and says "The only thing we have in common is music and now we're stuck in the middle of no-where. What am I going to do now?" I hand her a bottle of olive oil and wake up. Cool.

[Non-Lucid] The Special For Today Is Live Turtle

by SilverDreams on 03-24-2016 at 01:08 PM

In this dream I was with an ex-friend from High School. We were on a bus, traveling around a town that resembled my home town. I had a little clear cased camera hung from my neck and I was using it to document our journey. The bus came to a stop suddenly, and I got off with my broken guitar. Apparently there was a place nearby that had a nice restaurant and a place to get my guitar repaired. For some reason everyone on the bus tried to stop me from leaving, almost begging me to stay on the bus. They tried this with my former friend too but I finally managed to convince him to come with, while recording what was taking place on my camera that was somehow now strapped to my bag and recording hands-free. He eventually did and got a terrible looking beat up guitar from someone on the bus as he got off. We walked through a courtyard and into a fancy restaurant with tables and chairs set up in rows, and took a seat. An Asian woman came up to us and asked if we were in a band, but then decided we were just reporters and left us alone. I think someone took our names and used a fake one for some reason, then someone came over to take a group photo. The lady returned and placed a snapping turtle at my feet, which bit both my big toes. I screamed and then began laughing, convinced making a scene about the turtle would get us kicked out and it was worth enduring. Haha.

I was with the two guys I used to hang out with in the mountains west of my city, smoking weed. It was night for the majority of the dream.

    [Non-Lucid] Werewolf Guardian

by SilverDreams on 03-24-2016 at 10:21 AM

In this dream I am apparently a werewolf, for reasons unknown to me. I'm not even sure how I knew this since I never transformed or anything throughout the dream but I seemed positive that I was one while recalling this dream. I was walking beside the ocean with a girl, she was a few years younger than me and seemed kind, but a little naive. We had been walking a while and came upon a row of tents and my companion decided she needed to rest, and wanted to ask the people who had put up the tents if they'd mind if she slept in one. The sun was beginning to set over the ocean and I reluctantly agreed.

"Do not tell them what I am, and stay safe, you don't know these people." I said, almost coldly. I didn't need or want to sleep, so I left.

I think I was kind of a protector or guardian figure for the girl, but was also aloof and stern.

I was returning from somewhere. It was early morning, the stars were still out. I remember walking back onto the beachfront where the tents were, and overhearing loud music and talking from inside the tents.

"I knew it. Teenagers." I said, not surprised but also feeling slightly angry, paternal instincts kicking in perhaps.

I opened the flap on the the tent and noticed people smoking weed and drinking, and barged in to grab my companion and her bag. People seemed incredulous that I'd just walk in and "spoil their fun". I left with the girl and woke up soon after.

    [Non-Lucid] Sleep Over With Royalty

by SilverDreams on 03-08-2016 at 10:57 PM

In this dream I'm visiting a friend, I think It's Jack from HS. Except his family aren't the people I remember, they're royalty. I walk into their yard and hang out there, they have four dogs. Two adult dogs and two puppies, one belonging to teach adult dog. One of them is a black Labrador and It seems to like me the most. I'm playing with them when the Mother comes out, and begins talking to me. We chat for a bit, then I go inside. The Dad is sitting inside on a lounge watching television, and I tell him something about the yard or his kids or something.

I ask if I'm allowed to have a shower and the Mother says yes, and leads me to their private suite with a shower and a room coming off adjacent. I'm looking out the window at all the city lights in the distance, the two-storey rich people houses across the road and a factory a little further away. It's beautiful to say the least. The black lab in the yard is just hanging out below and I watch it for a second as it walks through the yard, which now that I think about it doesn't fit with the house at all since it's just a normal middle class yard. I walk into the bathroom and take off my pants in preparation for having a shower when the Mother comes in, and asks to see if I'm allergic to anything. She walks me back into the bedroom has me sit down on the corner of their bed, and opens my legs. She takes a marker and begins writing something on my inner thigh, It's kind of like an autograph, and she signs it saying she's a doctor or something like that. She makes a comment about my, uh, organ as well and then leaves again. I decide to try taking a picture of the writing since I'm about to take a shower, but none of them seem to turn out. I step into the bathroom, and It's all extremely well decorated.

I'm out of the shower now, two people I know are now in the bedroom, rummaging through the drawers and whatnot. I get angry, and tell them to get out, and they begin getting really angry back as if what they were doing wasn't wrong or out of the ordinary even. I get them to leave eventually, and walk downstairs, wondering where my friend is. This is all I remember.

    [Non-Lucid] Onions and Alligators

by SilverDreams on 03-02-2016 at 10:18 PM

In this dream I'm with a guy, apparently my boyfriend(?) , at the train station/prison hybrid where he is being kept prisoner. I'm pretty sure I'm there to ask him about alcohol to take with me out with my friends, since I'm fairly broke and haven't got enough money to buy my own and It's a necessity if I'm not going to feel uncomfortable the whole night. He tells me there's some in his apartment and I go upstairs, there are scumbag inmates all over the place calling to me, mocking me and whatnot.

"Hey, what room was yours?" I call down to him over the railing of the upper floor.
    "It's 505!" He shouts back.

A woman slides up beside me and opens the door slightly, presumably to demonstrate that It's unlocked.
"Does he always leave his door open like that?" I ask her, and wonder if she even knows him.

She shrugs, and I push open the door. There are no drinks any-where, I look over counter tops and inside a bedside table before determining that they must be under his bed for some reason. Surely enough I'm right, and I pick up a small flask of vodka, a larger bottle of whiskey and some absinthe and stuff them into my bag. I leave the apartment, but now I have a new problem. On the ground floor, right next to my boyfriend and the staircase down, there's a warden patrolling. I walk low, and try to descend the staircase without drawing any attention to myself. It's no use, and I am caught. He rummages through my bag, not seeming to care that I don't belong here, and finds a tube of skin cream. He accuses us of using it to get drunk, which we vehemently deny. He takes it away, and sentences me to prison with the rest of them. I jump down off the platform and onto the train tracks, stretching out ahead of me is a dark tunnel. I begin running down the tunnel, the warden screams at his officers to capture me, but I manage to evade most of them
I run as far as I can before I can't run any further, two officers blocking my path, a nasty looking woman and another man.

"Make sure you close the door up ahead, the one that's unlocked. We wouldn't want him reaching the last gate and getting free."

I am dragged off to a separate section, which is for some reason a patch of outside, like a park or something. I go inside, and there are other prisoners there, none that I have previously met or know in reality. I sit down on a park bench, and notice there are horses and alligators everywhere. I talk to the other prisoners, I think there's a woman, a larger man and one or two other people with no distinguishing features. The warden of this section of the "prison" talks to us, and begins throwing out different colored pieces of garlic, which attracts all the alligators to us. I sit on the very back of the park bench and put my feet up, there's the female inmate beside me and she does the same. I ask the warden how long I'm going to be here for.

"Thirty years." She replies bluntly, throwing a purple onion my way.
"Thirty years?!" I ask in disbelief, and she nods.
"That's right, you're not getting out here until you're one hundred and thirty."

So apparently I was already one hundred years old but looked and felt like I was in my twenties. I became friends with the inmates around me, but felt very upset at the prospect of being stuck in this place. As far as I can tell I woke up soon after.
