New here and learning about lucid dreaming...

      Hello,

My name is John in the past week or so I have been trying to learn about lucid dreaming I have attempted a WILD today at a mid-day nap but failed I know I was awake for the 1st hour and a half because I laid down and at 4 and woke up at 7 but i had heard my phone make a noise it was at text at 5:30.

I laid and tried to not think about anything which is quite difficult because even just the thought of not thinking about anything would pop up in my inner head i noticed if i drifted and my thoughts I would suddenly realize I was drifting and snap back to focus it was a weird feeling.... I had 2 random twitches one close to my ankle and the other near my wrist after it happened I realized it MAY have been a hypnagogic jerk as my body fell asleep .. i think...

Sometimes when I tried to focus I would feel an uncomfortable feeling in my eyes and it was making it hard to stay focused, I seen some of those "swirling light patterns" that people report but I see that almost always when I am going to sleep if i focus on the darkness of my closed eyes.

There was a point where I felt a really extreme heaviness to my body that felt like it might be sleep paralysis but I didnt want to try and force myself to move to ruin the state I was in.

There was also a moment where I felt like I was turning my left hand but it wasnt moving physically... that was kinda weird...

I tried counting my breathes to help me focus on it "No thoughts breathing in" and then saying out in my head the word one->stretched out the length of the outward breath.

I tried visualizing objects at first a tried to visualize a red car i could imagine the shape of it but couldn't see it, then while i was just laying there I seen a large .. its kinda hard to explain in words I will make it in Photoshop the best i can.

ok so i cant post images and the attachments get distorted so your just gunna have to copy and paste the link to the image:

      Code:
      img839.imageshack.us/img839/604/wild1.png
Then it went away and i couldn't visualize it again .

Then after a while I just fell asleep completely I don't really remember falling asleep but when I awoke I tried immediately closing my eyes and thinking about any dreams I had and nothing came to mind so i had nothing to put in my dream journal which i started yesterday.

2 Days ago I started doing random reality checks i drew RC above my right thumb small and every time I notice it, I do the check if I have all 10 fingers and they are normal, then i do the nose plug check and then the finger through palm check.

Welcome to DV! It seems to me that you're analyzing yourself a bit too much when you're trying to WILD. You're just supposed to be aware a bit, but still drift off into sleep. If you start paying attention to the feelings you're experiencing (happiness, fear, etc.) then you're not going to make it.

I suggest you read up on the tutorials a bit, they can be found here: DV Tutorials - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Lucid dreaming can take a while to master, but don't give up! It'll be worth the effort If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Yes, you will definitely become better at ignoring those SP feelings and such in time. You can practice meditation or try to DEILD to get better aswell. If you find WILD to be too hard, then you can always focus on the other techniques for now. They're just as efficient if used correctly. Everyone has a technique that works best for them. For myself, it's MILD.
