      staying aloft and staying asleep

Hi all, a brand newbie here. I’m sorry, I’m sure the answer to my questions are here on this forum somewhere but there is just soooo much info to try and pick through I thought I’d just post and see what happens….
I’ve had lucid dreams for as long as I can remember but for some reason it never occurred to me (while I was in the dream) to try and control or manipulate anything. I also used to have flying dreams but they were not lucid. In fact, they were the opposite of lucid. In these dreams I would think to myself “I’m really flying. I know I’ve dreamt of flying before, and thought it was real but this time it really, really is real!”. This was full-on superman type of controlled flight and the dreams seemed to last quite a while. Lately, I’ve been able to attempt to fly when I recognize that I am dreaming but it’s much less controlled than in the dreams that I was convinced weren’t dreams. I can barely get off the ground and have to struggle and flail to keep aloft. It’s more like swimming or trying to tread water and I know that as soon as descend to a certain point I’m going to wake up. I can feel the dream slipping away the lower I get. I’m looking for some tricks or techniques to prevent the waking and improve the flying. Thanks

      Welcome to Dreamviews

I also have trouble flying whenever I become lucid--it's pretty similar to what you described.

Try Puffin's DILD Guide. It has some good dream control tips. Good luck!
