there isn't a way to go to sleep without going through SP. You go through it every night.

though you're usually unconcious when it happens. try RCing alot, you'll RC in a dream and go lucid. it's called DILD. or you could do MILD. check out the attaining lucidity forum. there's loads of techniques.

SP isn't scary. you gotta believe that fully. if you believe it's scary it'll be scary. as someone's (can't remember who) signature said, "Sleep Paralysis is scary if you're scared of it." I've been concious in SP once before, and it wasn't scary. i felt my dog next to me when it wasn't in the room and i heard lightning. it also felt like i was going through a wormhole. it was awesome. also did you know you can control the hallucinations just like a dream?

You have two options: DILD and MILD.

DILD involves doing reality checks throughout the day as wristblade mentioned, and MILD is when you use mantras before going to bed to induce a lucid dream. You can say "I am lucid dreaming" over an over for a few minutes right before you go to sleep. There are tutorials around the forums for both of these methods. Good luck!

Yes having a DILD or a MILD are both dream induced so you are already dreaming and don't have to go through all that.
