Yeah with sleep paralysis your pretty much guaranteed to end up in a lucid dream. Its not scary at all, its all in your head so its fun. You can breath, its just harder. Make sure you don't have a blanket or anything covering your face and if you sleep on your belly for the love of god, don't fall asleep face down haha. I sleep on my side but sometimes fall asleep with a pillow covering my face and its pretty horrible. Worst comes to worst just pull yourself outta paralysis, the trick is to put all your effort into a single jolt. By jolt I mean try and move your shoulders or neck or something and put all your energy into a single jolt. If you do it right you'll instantly regain control of your muscles. The hallucinations aren't caused by panic. They're just a natural part of falling asleep like dreaming. People who have only had sleep paralysis a handful of times in their life are the ones that come up with all these rumours. I get it every night so I've learned a thing or 2 about it. Its great fun, right before you start dreaming you feel like your skydiving and summersalting through the air. At least I do. Every time, its how I know when a dreams about to start. The dream always starts abruptly, its pretty cool, one second everythings black, next second theres scenery all around you. Sleep paralysis and dreaming go hand in hand.
EDIT: As for the scary visitor, only some people see this old hag or shadow man. I don't. I sleep on my side so obviously I never feel anything sitting on me, instead I feel crazy energy rush things blasting through my abdomen and feel crazy stuff happening to my legs. It feels pretty good. Sometimes I feel dogs biting my hands and feet but its more like a dog whos playing because it doesn't hurt, its just mildly aggitating in a good way. If you see a shadow man trying to rape you or an old hag strangling you just remember, you have a pair of hallucinatory arms. Just strangle the bitch back
