      Hello Everyone!

      Hello All,

I’m new here at DreamVeiws and wanted to say hello.

      A little about me…

My name is Ian. You can call me Ian or Prancingwolf, either one. I am 19 years old and I live in Rochester, NY.

      My dream history…

When I was in the age range of about 5, 6 or 7 years of age I used to have dreams with great clarity. Not necessarily control though. If I didn’t like a dream I could end it by shaking my head back and fourth until I woke. That is all I can remember controlling. I used to have many false awakenings. I would wake thinking everything was normal (dark room, in my bed, etc.) and I would see something and then awake for real. I didn’t know any of this was special until years later. It all ended when I was around 8 or 9, slowly fading in frequency.

After rereading a book back in April called, Worker in The Light (George Noory) I decided to try Lucid Dreaming. I started a dream journal and repeated some mantra while drifting and did this for about a month after which I decided to let it go because of pressures from family discouraging me from dabbling in Lucid Dreaming.

About 2 or so weeks ago, I experienced something which may be considered lucid. I remember two dreams where I shouted out “It’s a dream!” and started running to do whatever and of course I woke up. And another which seemed to go on forever where I was sitting on top of a VW type bus in a lawn chair just chilling. The sidewalk to my left turned to ocean. I was adjusting my chair and fell off the roof of the bus and had one of those great falling feelings where I don’t hit a bottom, but wake up.

After those 3 episodes I decided to get back into my dream journal from months earlier. I pretty much decided no one can tell me what to do inside my own head.

I feel like I have decent dream recall. Two to four dreams a night that I can remember. Each night as I fall asleep, I repeat to myself something like “When I have a dream, I will recognize I am dreaming and remember it.” Seems to work OK. I’m starting already after just two days of this to wake up after a dream, it’s just a matter of getting conscious enough to realize I’m supposed to write this down.

Well, that about covers it. Can’t wait to meet all the folks here and learn all I can and start having Lucid Dreams again like when I was a kid

Hi Ian, welcome to dreamviews! You have NO idea how jealous I am of you for living in New York. I want go there so bad.

I think it is fairly common to have vivid dream when you are younger. As you grow older your dreams tend to be less important to you, and you forget them. False awakenings can be a good way to help you become lucid, if you start having them again. Just do a reality check every time you wake up. If it is a FA, you will realize it is a dream and become lucid!

Interesting! I am not familiar with that book. It is very good you're keeping a dream journal. Will you be keeping one here on the site?

If you knew you were dreaming while in the dream, it was a lucid..congrats! Being lucid doesn't always mean control. They are two separate things!

It sounds like your recall is good Are you going to be doing one of these techniques ?

Anyway...good luck! I hope to see you around Dreamviews more. If you have any questions just send me a private message

      Welcome to Dreamviews,
I found my dreams became so much more vivid when I started a Dream Journal, my recall increased too, so it's good you're doing that.
Two to Four dreams per night is very good in my opinion!
Well done on your first few lucids, what techniques are you using? If you are a beginner I advise you try to DILD/MILD + WBTB, I'll post some links below.

      Funny about shaking your head.

I had hundreds of lucid dreams and nightmares when I was a kid. When I was about to have a lucid nightmare, I found myself traveling through a gray and black void while my head was shaking.

MILD is the best technique to start with, as well as working on DILDs, through RC and more

      Hello and welcome to DV!

When I had a LD as child, I used to blink to wake up. But shaking on the head was also a good idea.

Congratulations! If you knew you were dreaming, it's a lucid dream. Good job!

For me, it sounds like you already do a little bit of the MILD technique without knowing it!
Which techniques are you using? If you don't use the MILD Technique, you could give it a try? It's a simple technique, and it sounds like something that would work for you!

Good luck on your amazing journey, and have nice (Lucid) dreams!

Yeah, Mancon, that book is interesting. It's designed to help you access the "great link" through things like meditation, remote viewing and, of course, LD's!

I guess those two dreams can be classified as "lucid". I wasn't sure if they could be since I wasn't sure if me screaming "It's a dream!" was part of the plot, or I really did notice I was dreaming. Does that make sense? I think it happened by accident when I said to myself as I driffted off, "I will lucid dream", just to see what would happen. I latter read something that that's actually a technique.

Haha yeah, that makes sense. Sometimes you forget if you actually knew or if you just said you knew. Happens to me sometimes.
