      Mentor?

I'm new to lucid dreaming but not too new to the site. I haven't been on in a while because of a lot of school stuff, and because I didn't bookmark this and lost it.

I really want a mentor. I am very persistent when I decide on something, and I really need to learn to lucid dream. I thought it would be really interesting when I first heard about it and did a bit of looking, but all the information overwhelms me and not sure where to start.

I want to learn because I have vivid nightmares most nights. I want to learn to control them so I don't have to see people I care about getting abused while I stand by helplessly. I've had these nightmares since I was a kid because my siblings and I were abused. I can sleep through the night, but it takes forever to fall asleep for me. I also don't sleep very well when I do sleep. I do remember my dreams when I wake and frequently remember a few from each night. I just want to be able to sleep without the nightmares every time I try to close my eyes. I'm hoping that learning to control my dreams will help me get a handle on some of my other issues.

If you want, I could be your mentor. Though it sounds like the problem shouldbe handled by a psychologist. Of course the option is yours.

I have tried psychologists. I'm about to start with my fourth one. They don't really help. All they want to do is give me drugs for dreamless sleep.

In that case lucid dreaming might be worth a shot. You could also try to find a psychologist who knows about LD and use it as a part of your treatment. Anyhow I hope you get rid of your nightmares.

Your mentor, if you are to have one, is to come from within you. Also, they will and have come from the cruelties you and others have suffered. You have learned (or at least are learning) how being abused feels, so in yourself you will engender love rather than abuse. It is a road we all have to now or one day travel and learn to understand the internal road signs.

I'm up for having anyone as a mentor who wants to be my mentor. I'll try almost anything once.
