Well to find the fastest, easiest and most rewarding technique you'll have to try out different techniques. It can work completely different for some people than for others.
You should look here: Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams (WILD)
Read some threads and guides about WILDing and try some to find out what works for you.
Personal Records so far: Max lucids per day: 2 | Max lucids per week: 4 | Max lucids per month: 8 | Max dreams recalled in one night: 17
      Longest lucid dream: ~35min | Highest flight: zoomed out of common existence [WTF?] | Fastest speed: FTL | DILD/EILD/DEILD [X] | WILD/VILD [X] | MILD/FILD/HILD [ ]
Interested to know how I got 17 dreams in one single night? And how I think I still could Improve? Check out my new and improved Dream Recall Compendium: The Dream Recall Compendium

      Hi there my friend,

Have you ever considered doing a DEILD? It's a much easier variation of WILD. The main concept of DEILD is to not move and remain still the moment you wake-up. During this moment, the transitional phase usually kicks in after a couple of seconds. It would help if you read the official DILD Tutorial.

When you get no results in your first few tries, don't get turned off. Some people took 2 weeks and even 1 month to have their first LD. Just be patient and confident with yourself. Continue practicing and you'll get the hang of it. Hope this helps

I personally like the DEILD, the best. It's a form of WILD. Like weakamon said, DEILD is much much easier than just trying to do a "normal" WILD. Especially for beginners.
Here is a link to the original tutorial~
