      Trying to Lucid Dream.

I tried for my first time last night, I remember my dream, but it wasn't Lucid, and I did all the things to make it lucid.

I looked at my hands during the day to make it a habit, but I never did in my dream, it's as if I have no control over my dreams.

I also chanted to myself "I need to remember my dream" or "I need to Lucid dream" But still no luck.

Any tips on how to lucid dream?

Im glad you see youve found interest in lucid dreaming.
Dont get worried if you done all the right things and nothing has happened right away.
Some people have instant results. Most people seem to take about a month. But many people take much longer.

Most things in waking life can take alittle while to switch over to dreaming life
ex: When a person that comes to a new country and is able to speak both the language from his last country and his current one, after a couple weeks their dreams switch over to the new language!

I'd recommend you consider reading an ADA tutorial here in dream views. Because in the end its AWARENESS that makes you lucid.

Try these less passive mantras:"I will remember my dream" or even "Next time I am dreaming I will realize Im dreaming" instead.

Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask or send me a PM!

I would like to add is its not good to speak your mantras in a future tense, say it in present tense. ex:"I will remember my dream" or even "Next time I am dreaming I will realize Im dreaming"
Isn't that future tense? Or did you word this wrong and mean something else?

      Hello!

I suggest you check out Puffin's Beginner's guide to lucid dreaming . It has some great information there and will definitely give you some good tips.

As for personal tips I suggest that you keep a dream journal as much as you can. Try not to get lazy with it, the more detail you go into and the more entries you have; the better chance you have of achieving a lucid dream. You also need to keep persistent when it come to lucid dreaming. If you aren't having success it doesn't mean you should give up, you still need to keep trying. Lucid dreaming takes some good patience; if you go for a week without having a lucid dream, don't get worried, just keep at it and you will get there. Giving up will get you nowhere. Keep faith in yourself and you will get there

Just because you didn't have success one night doesn't mean you are terrible. It was your first night it is very very common not to get lucid your first night.

I also recommend checking out Puffin's SAT technique . It is a really great technique.

I hope this helps, PM me if you have some questions or post on the forums!

      Hi there my friend,

Welcome to DV. First of all, it's pretty natural to fail on your first attempt to LD. Some people here even took weeks to have their first LD. I suggest you keep yourself a dream journal, it's one of the most essential things when it comes to Lucid Dreaming.

And like what Kona said, try readingPuffin's SAT Technique . The thing here is it's not about looking at your hand for a hundred times. What matters is you examining your surrounding wether it's a dream or not. And try not to depend on only one RC my friend, it helps to have a vast collection of RCs at your disposal, so try also reading this RC Tutorial .

Last of all, confidence my friend. That's all that matters most. Keep practicing and you'll be a natural in no time. Hope this helps

      Awh cheer up.

It takes quite a bit of practice to get a lucid dream. I know alot of people around here make it sound quite easy but it is pretty tricky. Keep practising and being determined to have one. For me it took me almost 3 1/2 months of dedication and practice just to have my first lucid. Keep up with remembering your dreams and improve your all-day awarness. The key to lucid dreaming is confidence. Believe that you can!

Anyway, if you need any advice or anything let me know.
