      hello everyone.

I took the time to write out a long post earlier and apperently it did not work. I can not remember everything I wrote and do not feel like writing it all out so this will be short but I do not want to be left out/ Introduction is the first step to getting invovled. i am twenty one and I have had a few lucid dreams but I usually realise I am dreaming and change one thing then get lost in the dream again. I have only had one that I managed to stick through with the knowledge of my dream state. If anyone wants to be friends and keep up with eachothers dreams, teach me or learn with me I would love it. I love having friends and mentors to help things be more productive and enjoyable. If anyone new or experienced would like to chat then please send me a message. Thank you.

      Welcome to DV.

The way to stay lucid is to remind yourself over and over that you are dreaming. That will prevent you from being sucked back into it. It also helps if you do something that is not possible in real life, like flying.

      Hi there my friend,

Glad you've joined DV. I'm sure you'll have a fun stay here. I recommend you get yourself a dream journal to help you in your dream recall since dream recall is an important element in Lucid Dreaming. And have you already checked http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-116237/ ? It's a must-read. Good luck and hope this helps

      Hi Twinklefairytut! Welcome to Dreamviews

Sorry you weren't able to post your long post. Adding to what ninja said, I recommend you stabilize the dream right when you become lucid. It will increases clarity, allow you to stay in the dream longer, and gets your awareness up to stay lucid. You should read this stabilization tutorial to learn how to stabilize a dream. Good luck! If you have any questions just send me a PM!

      Welcome to DV.

Like Mancon said, stabilization is good because it helps you focus on your dream body (eg. rubbing hands), or your surroundings. Ninja's advice is also helpful; I find that if I'm losing lucidity, I simply shout out loud that I'm dreaming, and I'll become more aware again. Of course, this doesn't work every time but it certainly makes a difference. Maintaining lucidity can also be affected by whether or not you're going along with the dream plot - for instance, if you were dreaming about looking for your dog and then become lucid, then continue to try looking for it, you may not remember that you're asleep. This is why it's important to affirm that you're dreaming and try to deviate from the course the dream naturally wants to take.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
