Lucid dream or dreaming your lucid dreaming?

How do you know if your really having a lucid dream or if the character in your dream is lucid dreaming?

I know this question may sound weird but I think I had a brief lucid dreaming moment the other night but it was like I was dreaming the ?me? can't remember if it was me.. but someone in my dream was lucid dreaming. They were realizing they were dreaming and could control things for only a few seconds.

Did -you- control anything? (the real you) If not you just dreamed about people dreaming. Confusing but I think it's a step in the good direction for you. Also, you don't always seem to be yourself in a dream. Even watched others in 3rd person, like a videogame, as subject in my dreams.

I hope this is somewhat an answer, I found it a bit hard to find out what you were asking.

      It does sound very weird.
But I'm not going to lie because i have asked myself this question before too lol.

Well I think even if you were dreaming that you were having a lucid dream then it is probably still a lucid dream.
But what do i know, im still a noob. lol

Could you journal down this dream and post it on the forums? This would help greatly. And @JoeyBelgier not all lucids involve dream control..

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

Its hard to sell anyone on a lucid dream by description alone, because it is such an immense experience that it is difficult to explain, you have to feel it, live it, breath it.
You know your not dreaming it because in the Lucid Dream you can think of the fact that you are in bed, or that you forgot to hang out the washing etc, your mind can think as freely as the waking world, And one of the most re-ensuring ways you can tell you are actually awake (and i'm only speaking for myself here) is when you are lucid and you wake up, you go from the lucid world to the real world and are conscious the whole time, for me i feel myself float up through the bottom of my matress and sink into my body, It is an absolute bizzare transition and if it were mearly a dream of being lucid, i would simple wake up like any other day.

I don't know if you have actually LD'ed before, but if not... Have Faith, when it happens... you'll know.. and you'll never be the same again.

      Good luck

Could it be, so plain to see, the night is still so young for me.
